Surveys have a variety of purposes and can be carried out in many ways depending on the methodology chosen and the objectives to be achieved. Socioeconomic survey is the social sciences is the study of how economic activities are affected and is shaped by social Processes. In general it analyses how societies progress, stagnate, or regress because of their local or regional economy, or the global economy. Societies are divided into 3 groups: Social, cultural and economic. COMPONENTS OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS Socioeconomic status is an economic and sociological combined total measure of a person’s work experience and of an individual’s or family’s economic and social position in relation to others, based on household income, earners’ education, and occupation are examined, as well as combined income, whereas for an individual’s socio-economic status only their own attributes are assessed. However, socio-economic status is more commonly used to depict an economic difference in society as a whole. Socioeconomic status is typically broken into three levels (high, middle, and Low) to describe the three places a family or an individual may fall into. When placing a family or individual into one of these categories, any or all of the three variables (income, education, and occupation) can be assessed. Additionally, low income and education have been shown to be strong predictors of a range of physical and mental health problems, including respiratory viruses, arthritis, coronary disease, and schizophrenia. These problems may be due to environmental conditions in their workplace, or, in the case of disabilities or mental illnesses, may be the entire cause of that person’s social predicament to begin with. Education in higher socioeconomic families is typically stressed as much more important, both within the household as well as the local community. In poorer areas, where food, shelter and safety are priority, education can take a backseat. Youth audiences are particularly at risk for many health and social problems in the United States, such as unwanted pregnancies, drug abuse, and obesity. OBJECTIVES The development of area depends on Geo- Socioeconomic setting of the area. Small units like a village help us for collecting data of various socio- economic conditions so the study of a local area is very essential to the students. The basic aims and objectives are___ 1: To know about the local area, it’s past and present and various problems of Socio-Economic conditions. 2: To get acquainted with the past and present of social environment. 3: To know about the educational status of the village and reason of their educational backwardness if any. 4: To know about the economic background of the village and the families. 5: To know about the living standards of the village.
