Define the following suffixes: - Itis= inflammation - Logy= study of Medical Terminology (FAC-102) Silent Letters and Unusual Pronunciations A silent letter or unusual pronunciation can be a problem, especially if it appears at the start of a word. Unlike other word with usual pronunciation as Apnea, means cessation of breathing Some examples: 1) Abscess, a collection of pus in any part of the body. 2) Pneumonia: is an inflammation of lungs due to infection of alveoli in one or both lungs, causing symptoms such as cough and fever. 3) Nephroptosis, means dropping of the kidney.
