Lecture 15 October 01, 2024 Some Points Midsem: Easy or Difficult? Issue with drawing parallel and perpendicular lines (Problem 1 of midsem) Issue with final orientation of plane and solid: Start with the final configuration and try to reach the simplest one with rotation about an axis perpendicular to HP or VP only (Problem 2, 3 of midsem) Quiz: October 24 Install Solidworks in your laptops; will do it in November. Someone lost a smartwatch in A18-1 during midsem; collect from me. Frustum of a Hexagonal Pyramid Problem 38: Draw the FV, TV and profile views of the frustum of a hexagonal pyramid of base edge 35 mm, top edge 20 mm and axis 45 mm, has one of its faces on the HP and axis parallel to VP. Note: This problem is solved in 2 stages. Hexagonal Prism Drilled Problem 39: A hexagonal prism, base side 40 mm and axis 40 mm has a centrally drilled circular hole of diameter 40 mm. Draw its projections when the prism is resting on an edge of its base on the HP and the axis inclined at 60° to the HP and parallel to the VP. Note: This problem is solved in 2 stages. Single Sphere Problem 40: A small portion of the sphere of diameter 70 mm is cut by a plane such that a flat surface of diameter 50 mm is formed. It is kept on a point of this flat on the HP making an angle of 30° with the HP. Draw its projections. Note: This problem is solved in 2 stages. Two Spheres Problem 41: Two spheres, each of 70 mm diameters, touching each other are resting on the HP. Draw their projections when the line joining their centres is inclined at 45° to the VP. Also show the point of their contact in the front view. Note: A sphere occurring in any orientation in a space appears as a circle of diameter equal to the diameter of the sphere. Three Spheres Problem 42: Three spheres of radii 40 mm, 25 mm and 15 mm are placed on the HP, each touching the other two. Draw their projections when the line joining the centres of the two bigger spheres is parallel to the VP.
