T h e s e i n - structions i n d i c a t e the i n s p e c t i o n intervals i n dependance o n t h e n u m b e r o f s w i t c h i n g o p e r a t i o n s and t i m e o f s e r v i c e. T h e i n s p e c t i o n i s l i m i t e d t o t h e d i v e r t e r switch only since t h e tap s e l e c t o r o p e r a t e s f r e e o f w e a r. T h e i n s p e c t i o n o f t h e diverter s w i t c h c o m p r i s e s first o f all t h e c l e a n - i n g o f t h e i n s u l a t i n g p a r t s and t h e c h e c k i n g o f t h e contact w e a r. Disassembly of the diverter switch insert D u r i n g a periodical i n s p e c t i o n a n d i f t h e diverter switch o i l i s not much contami- n a t e d it i s not necessary t o c o m p l e t e l y disassemble the diverter switch insert. I n t h e m a j o r i t y o f c a s e s it i s sufficient to remove a contact shell for the purpose o f cleaning the diverter switch elements and c h e c k i n g t h e contact w e a r. I f further d i s a s s e m b l y o f t h e diverter s w i t c h s h o u l d b e necessary p r o c e e d a s indicated below: f) r e m o v e s c r e w s with l o c k w a s h e r s a n d n u t s (310) at supporting flange (309).- g) lift u p v e r t i c a l l y supporting c y l i n d e r ( 3 0 7 ) i n c l u d i n g diverter insert head (301). The lower part o f the support- ing flange (309) i s provided with a g u i d e p i n M. (Figures 4 a n d 5 ). Attention! When putting down t h e supporting c y - linder (307) take care not to damage t h e driving shaft (308). 308 Fig. 4 h) remove resistor connecting bolts (316) and lock washers. A b o v e all t h e i n s u l a t i n g c y l i n d e r s ( 3 6 7 , 1 , F i g. 3 a n d 5) a n d t h e t r a n s f e r r e s i s t o r s ( 3 1 5 , F i g. 5) h a v e t o b e c l e a n e d f r o m s o o t , i f a n y , a n d f l u s h e d w i t h t r a n s f o r m e r oil. Furthermore the tap changer head (103, F i g. 1) and the diverter swité¢h o i l v e s s e l ( 2 0 3 , e n c l. 5 ) , a s far a s a c c e s s i b l e , have t o b e c l e a n e d f r o m o i l s o o t with a n o n - f i b r o u s p e n c i l ( n y l o n p e n c i l ) o r a brush. T h e r e u p o n t h e d i v e r t e r o i l v e s s e l i s t o b e c o m p l e t e l y p u m p e d o u t , t h e o i l s o o t , i f any, t o b e r e m o v e d at t h e o i l v e s s e l bottom ( 2 0 7 , e n c l. 5) a n d t o b e flushed with fresh t r a n s f o r m e r oil. A f t e r t h e cleaning, all p a r t s a r e t o be c h e c k e d f o r t h e i r g o o d condition. This c h e c k i s t o b e a p p l i e d t o the insulating cylinders (307, 311, F i g. 3 and 5), t h e energy accumulator d e v i c e ( 3 0 4 , F i g. 3 ) , t h e transfer r e s i s t o r s ( 3 1 5 , F i g. 5) | t h e f i x e d m a i n a n d auxiliary contacts (319, 320), the moving contact system (321) with the main and auxiliary c o n t a c t s ( 3 2 2 , 3 2 3 ) , the connecting contact leads (326 and 327 see encl. 5) for t h e m a i n and auxiliary c o n t a c t s. = Checking of contact wear Contact burning o n t h e f i x e d a n d moving m a i n and auxiliary c o n t a c t s ( 3 1 9 , 3 2 0 , 3 2 2 , 323) h a s t o b e m e a s u r e d. T h e admissible c o n t a c t burning o f 5 m m given a s a maximum i n e n c l. 3 must nét b e exceeded. Replacement of contacts S p e c i a l attention h a s b e e n p a i d t o simplify r e p l a c e m e n t o f c o n t a c t s s u b - j e c t t o burning. The fixed main contacts (319) a r e e a c h fastened at the contact shells(311) by two countersunk screws CV 87/10 M6 x 15 mm. T h e f i x e d auxiliary c o n t a c t s ( 3 2 0 ) a r e e a c h a t t a c h e d b y t w o s c r e w s M 6 x 12. T h e m o v i n g m a i n a n d auxiliary c o n t a c t s ( 3 2 2 , 3 2 3 ) a r e f a s t e n e d t o t h e contact supports by means of two sérews M8 x 22 mm. After r e p l a c e m e n t o f c o n t a c t s t h e fastening s c r e w s have t o b e l o c k e d carefully again. 311 Assembly and installation T h e m o v a b l e c o n t a c t s y s t e m ( 3 2 1 , F i g. 6 ) i s brought into t h e m i d - p o s i t i o n b y means o f t h e d i v e r t e r s w i t c h operating k e y. Check whether the adjustment pins o f the contact springs "f'" a r e in the provided notches o f the tap changer s t a r. ( F i g. 6). F i x f i r s t contact s h e l l s ( 3 1 1 , F i g. 5 a n d 6) o n t h e supporting flange ( 3 0 9 ) b y s c r e w s ( 3 1 3 ) M 6 x 1 5 a n d l o c k washers. After p r e s s i n g t h e c o n t a c t s h e l l s a g a i n s t t h e d i v e r t e r switch b e a r i n g p l a t e ( 3 2 5 ) a n d aligning t h e m t h e c o n t a c t s h e l l s a r e n o w t o b e f a s t e n e d b y s c r e w s (314) M 6 x 1 8. F o r this p u r p o s e tighten t h e s c r e w s a s f a r a s p o s s i b l e b y hand a n d t h e n only b y a w r e n c h. I n s e r t vertically t r a n s f e r r e s i s t o r s (315) Tighten a l s o r e s i s t o r connecting s c r e w s (316) a s far a s p o s s i b l e b y h a n d b e f o r e u s i n g a w r e n c h s o that t h e t h r e a d o f t h e r e s i s t o r connect- ing socket will n o t b e damaged. T h e r e u p o n put i n p l a c e vertically supporting cylinder (307) including energy accumulator device. The guide pin '"M'" has t o be slided into the hole provided f o r on the s u p p o r t i n g c y l i n d e r f l a n g e ( 3 0 9 ). I f necessary m o v e t h e d r i v i n g r o d o f t h e e n e r g y a c c u m u l a t o r until t h e driving shaft (308, F i g. 4) engages. A f t e r i n s e r t i n g t h e s u p p o r t i n g flange s c r e w s (310) a n d t h e i r l o c k w a s h e r s o n t h e supporting flange (309) and tightening t h e m , t h e a s s e m b l y o f t h e diverter insert i s c o m p l e t e d. It must once more be checked whether all screw joints are tightened and carefully locked. T h e d i s t a n c e o f t h e e l e c t r o d e s o f t h e s p a r k gap h a s t o b e c h e c k e d. ( 3 1 8 ). Distance between electrodes: 5 mm (Fig. 4). B e f o r e r e i n s t a l l i n g t h e diverter s w i t c h i n s e r t it i s n e c e s s a r y t o pay a t t e n t i o n t o t h e p o s i t i o n o f t h e n o n i n t e r c h a n g e a b l e d r i v e c o u p l i n g (303, F i g. 2 ). T h e diverter s w i t c h i n s e r t i s i n t r o d u c e d v e r t i c a l l y a n d c a r e - fully i n t o i t s o i l v e s s e l. I f t h e insert i s p r o p e r l y s e a t e d i n t h e t a p c h a n g e r h e a d (103) t h e 4 p r e s s u r e s p r i n g s (118) a r e s l i p p e d o v e r t h e studs and the nuts (117) s c r e w e d o n u p t o t h e end o f the t h r e a d ( F i g. 2). Now the diverter switch oil vessel must be filled with oil up to the level o f t h e i n s e r t h e a d (301). T h e r e u p o n s e v e r a l t r i a l s w i t c h i n g o p e r a t i o n s in either direction have t o b e effected by hand. Trial switching operations without oil filling are to be avoided as far as possible. N o w t h e t a p c h a n g e r h e a d c o v e r ( 1 0 6 ) with g a s k e t ( 1 0 8 ) i s put i n p l a c e and t i g h t e n e d. T h e g a s k e t (108) should b e dry. T h e t a p changer h e a d (103) i s f i l l e d v i a o i l c o n s e r v a t o r (with t h e v e n t i n g s c r e w o p e n ( 1 0 7 , F i g. 1)) with t r a n s f o r m e r o i l until it b e g i n s t o run out through t h e vent- ing s c r e w. After tightening t h e venting s c r e w t h e t a p c h a n g e r i s ready again f o r service. Carrying out trial switching operations and checking the limit positions Prior to re-connecting the transformer, trial switching o p e r a t i o n s b y operating t h e m o t o r drive m u s t b e c a r r i e d out a c r o s s t h e c o m p l e t e regulating r a n g e including t h e two limit p o s i t i o n s. T h e p o s i t i o n i n d i c a - t i o n i n t h e t a p changer h e a d a n d i n t h e m o t o r d r i v e m u s t b e c h e c k e d t o m a k e s u r e that it i s conform i n all positions. ‘The r e s p o n s e o f t h e e l e c t r i c a l limit s w i t c h i n t h e m o t o r d r i v e i s t o b e v e r i f i e d. T h e n a n o t h e r 2 t o 5 revolutions o f t h e h a n d c r a n k s h o u l d b e m a d e i n o r d e r t o c h e c k t h e m e c h a n i c a l limit s w i t c h. This c h e c k i s t o b e d o n e i n both d i r e c t i o n s ( R a i s e a n d Low). Function test of the protective device RS 1000 C h e c k i n g o f t h e p r o t e c t i v e d e v i c e R S 1000 i s l i m i t e d t o t h e p r o t e c t i v e d e v i c e flap and contact making o f t h e mercury s w i t c h. F o r t h i s p u r p o s e t h e fixing s c r e w s o f t h e c o v e r c a p a t t h e t o p o f t h e p r o t e c t i v e d e v i c e a r e r e m o v e d a n d t h e c a p c l a p p e d back.
