CREATIVE IDEATION CREATIVE IDEATION -is the process of generating, evaluating, and selecting new ideas. -Creative techniques are used to unlock new perspectives and help us achieve our goal of creatively solving a problem statement or challenge. CREATIVITY TECHNIQUES BRAINSTORMING -It is a group discussion to produce ideas or solve problems. -With this technique, the goal is to produce as many ideas as possible within a particular time frame. EXAMPLE: If you want to improve your physical fitness, you may gather a group of friends and brainstorm ideas for different type of exercise, workout routines and healthy eating habits to create a fitness plan. NEGATIVE BRAINSTORMING -A method that use to generate bad solutions to the problem, and then see how those could be transformed into good solutions. -It identifies the obstacles and works toward reversing them. EXAMPLE: A group is tasked with finding solutions to the question ‘How could you make children and grand parents understand each other more?’ – To build a wall between old and young people. – To put them in two different buildings so they never meet. – Make a machine that really distracts the youngsters so they don’t want to spend time with the elders. A TRANSFORMED BAD SOLUTION WOULD BE: Create a retirement home with a kindergarten in the middle. The elders could then come by and help when they have time. BRAINWRITING -It's similar to brainstorming but with a twist: instead of verbally sharing ideas, participants write them down. -It encourages participation from individuals who feel less comfortable sharing their thoughts aloud. IMPROVE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION THROUGH Participant 1 BETTER SERVICE Provide training for Implement a customer Offer personalized customer service feedback system customer support representative EXAMPLE Use AI to predict customer needs IMPROVE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION THROUGH Participant 2 BETTER SERVICE Develop a mobile app Introduce a live chat Extend a customer for customer service feature on the website service hour IMPROVE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION THROUGH Participant 3 BETTER SERVICE offer self-service Provide multilingual Send follow-up emails options for common support after support issues interactions STARBUSTING -The goal is to generate key questions based on a simple but structured brainstorming framework modeled in the shape of a star. -It focuses on asking questions rather than immediately seeking answers to assess new ideas. EXAMPLE RANDOM WORD ASSOCIATION Customer It used to generate ideas by connecting unrelated words and concepts, sparking new thoughts and perspectives. EXAMPLE EXAMPLE ROLEPLAYING TECHNIQUE -It involves acting out scenarios, characters, or situations related to the project problem or goal. -The participants adopt character personas and imagine problems and solutions from their perspectives. EXAMPLE: Actual customer service representatives may portray themselves while their colleagues act as fictitious customers who pose different questions or problems, and/or present different kinds of personalities. SCENARIO: Customer: I ordered a product 2 weeks ago, and it was supposed to arrive 3 days ago. What’s going on? Representative: My sincerest apologies. Late deliveries can be a real pain. I assure you that we’re doing everything possible to resolve this issue for you. And as a gesture of appreciation for your understanding, we would be happy to give you a 10% discount on your next purchase. SCAMPER -It explores how to solve problems through seven dimensions that can ignite innovative solutions. - is an acronym formed from the abbreviation of: Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify, Put to another use , Eliminate, and Reverse. EXAMPLE: Substitute: What can we substitute for something else? Combine: How can we combine two or more parts? Adapt: Which parts can we adapt or change? Modify: What can we modify, exaggerate or emphasize? Put to another use: How else could this be used? Eliminate: What can we remove, reduce or simplify? Rearrange: What can we rearrange, reorder or reverse? YES, AND TECHNIQUE The “Yes, and” approach involves accepting and building upon the ideas and statements of the other party, rather than rejecting or opposing them. EXAMPLE: For example, we’ve played as advertisers marketing a bottle of water (“You should buy this bottle of water because it’s 100% fat-free.” “Yes, and you can reuse the bottle as a flower vase,” etc.) MIND MAPPING -Mind maps are represented by a central thought which branches out into smaller, related ideas. -Mind maps are designed to push our creative thinking further, leading to greater insight and innovation EXAMPLE METHAPORICAL THINKING -Metaphor technique consists in creating new possibilities, means and solutions by discovering and suggesting similarities between a problem or focal object (target) and some other object EXAMPLE: if managing a team is compared to “gardening,” one might hypothesize that just as different plants need different types of care, different team members need to be managed with care. EXAMPLE: A business is like the human body, with different departments functioning like organs. The body requires a balanced diet and regular check-ups (resources and reviews) to stay healthy and perform optimally.
