TERCER CICLO CONSTRUCCIONES I Qué son los Áridos: Son materiales granulares inertes formados por fragmentos de roca o arenas utilizados en la construcción (edificación e infraestructuras) y en numerosas aplicaciones industriales. Se denominan o clasifican según su tamaño y textura superficial de sus partículas. 2. Al hablar de áridos estamos haciendo referencia a una materia prima que puede ser extraída del suelo. Estos materiales son fragmentos tanto de rocas como de arenas, que coloquialmente se conocen como gravas, gravillas, arenas o piedras. Este material es la base de la mayor parte de edificaciones, pues todo lo que es construido contiene áridos entre sus componentes. 1. Clasificación de los áridos a. Áridos naturales: Suponen el 99 % del consumo total de áridos extraídos de los yacimientos geológicos (rocas ígneas, rocas y materiales sedimentarios, rocas metamórficas) b. Áridos secundarios: (artificiales), elaborados por tratamiento de escorias de otras industrias generadas en procesos térmicos. Actualmente su uso es insignificante (escorias de horno alto, escorias de acería otras escorias) c. Áridos reciclados: proceden del tratamiento de residuos de construcción y demolición (RCD). Actualmente representan menos del 1 % del consumo total de áridos (Hormigones, Ladrillos, Tejas, Carreteras, Mezclas) Clasificación de los áridos según su tamaño a. Grava: Árido cuyas partículas tienen tamaños comprendidos entre 20 y 40 mm b. Gravilla: Árido cuyas partículas tiene tamaños comprendidos entre 5 y 20 mm Agregados finos: Es un relleno pequeño hecho de arena varia en tamaño desde el número 4 hasta el número 100 del tamiz estándar americano. Un buen agregado fino deberá estar siempre libre de impurezas orgánicas, arcilla o cualquier material añadido al relleno excesivo de tamaños pequeños que el tamiz número 100. Arena: Árido cuyas partículas tiene tamaños entre 0.16 y 5 mm ¿Qué rol cumplen los áridos en el hormigón? Los áridos deben conformar el esqueleto o estructura base del hormigón. Este esqueleto debe ser lo más robusto posible. Es decir, en cada unidad volumétrica de hormigón debe existir la mayor cantidad posible de áridos y con l mayor tamaño compatible con los demás requisitos que deba cumplir la mezcla. De esta forma se obtendrá el hormigón más estable y económico. Sus características, buenas o malas, se transmitirán directamente al hormigón del cual forma parte normalmente, ocupan alrededor del 75% del volumen total del hormigón.
