BS BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION SABM FACULTY The term operations embrace all the activities required to create and deliver an organization’s goods or services to its customers or clients. Operations Management is concerned with the design, management, and improvement of the systems that create the organization’s goods or services. i. OPERATIONS Is the area that is responsible for directly creating the product or service for which the customer will pay. The other three departments ensure that the operation of the business has everything needed in order to do the work. ii. MARKETING Ensures that operations are producing the right product or service in a way that provides customers with all the features or characteristics that they value. “It is the heart of the business.” iii. FINANCE Ensures that the funds for materials, supplies, payroll and equipment are available when needed. Anything that involves monetary agenda within the company. Responsible for forecasting and budgeting of the whole finances of the company. iv. HUMAN RESOURCE Ensures that the correct employees, with the adequate skills and experience are recruited, hired and trained. They are responsible for compensation, collection of income taxes, administration of benefits, succession planning and more. Product and Service Design: Operations Managers work with other departments to design products and services that meet customer needs and can be produced efficiently. Process Design and Planning: Operations Managers design and plan the processes that will be used to produce the organization's goods and services. This includes determining the steps involved in each process, the resources required, and the sequence in which the steps will be performed. Forecasting and Demand Management: Operations Managers forecast customer demand and manage inventory levels to ensure that the organization has enough products and services to meet customer demand without incurring excessive inventory costs.
