Ordinance of Prof. Rajendra Singh (RajjuBhaiya) State University, Prayagraj This ordinance introduces the degree of _Master of Laws_ at the _Professor Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) State University, Prayagraj._ ### Definitions * **Academic Council** means the academic council of PRSU, Prayagraj, U.P. * **Admission** means the process of joining the first year of the LL.M. course. * **Candidate** refers to someone who has fulfiled the requirements to be admitted. * **College or Institute** refers to an affiliated college or institute of the University. * **University** refers to _Prof. Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) University, Prayagraj, U.P._ (_PRSU_). ### Details of the LL.M. Ordinance 1. The ordinance is referred to as the _Professor Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) State University, Prayagraj, LL.M Ordinances, 2022_, also known as the _PRSU LL.M. Ordinance-2022_. 2. It regulates admission, structure, study, examinations, and degree award. 3. It will become effective starting from the academic year 2022-23, or a date set by the University. 4. The course will be run either on a _Regular_ or _Self-financed_ basis as decided by the University. 5. The LL.M. course will be two years long, with four semesters of six months. 6. The maximum duration to complete this course is four years. 7. The number of seats is set by the Academic Council of the University. 8. Students must have a qualifying degree. The following will be considered: * A LL.B. Three year degree course * A LL.B. Five Year degree course * Must be recognized by the Bar Council of India and by the UGC Act, 1956. * Must be from a University recognized under the U.G.C. Act. * Any student who has taken the final examination for a three or five year LL.B. degree in their respective university may apply. 9. The selection committee decides whether the course will be run on a _Regular_ or _Self-financed_ basis. 10. The curriculum follows the guidelines in the Regulation and can be modified by the Academic Council upon the recommendation of the Board of Studies. 11. Students must successfully complete their semesters before moving on to the next. 12. Results will be assessed using a Cumulative Grade Point Average System. 13. The LL.M. degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed the course, passed their examinations, and have shown themselves worthy of a LL.M. degree. 14. Existing colleges that have running LL.B. (three-year) or LL.B (five-year) programs can apply to PRSU to run their own LL.M. program. They will have to submit a report of a satisfactory inspection. 15. The University's Academic Council can amend the ordinances, through a resolution, upon recommendation by the Vice Chancellor. ## Proposed Regulations for the LL.M. Course of PRSU, Prayagraj ### Admission 1. The University/College/Institute shall invite applications for admission to the LL.M. course based on the number of sanctioned seats available. 2. Applicants will need to apply for admission based on the University/College/Institute's prescribed form. 3. Admission is based on merit. Students' performance in exams and entrance tests will be considered. * * * ### Course of Study in LL.M 1. The two year LL.M. course consists of four semesters of equal duration. 2. Each semester lasts ten weeks. 3. Students will take two core papers and two optional papers from designated groups. The groups are: * **Group A:** * Corporate Management and Ethics * Intellectual and Industrial Property Law - I * Criminology and Penology * Comparative Family Law of Marriage, Divorce and Succession * Law Relating to Women and Child Rights. * **Group B:** * Administrative Action and Judicial Review * Intellectual and Industrial Property Law-II * Law of Information Technology * Media and Law * Legislative Drafting and Interpretation of Statutes * **Group C:** * Law of Torts and Disaster Management * International Economic Trade Law * Taxation Laws and Reforms * Consumer Protection and Competition Law * International Human Rights 4. In Semester IV, the student will take two compulsory papers and write a dissertation. 5. The dissertation is worth eight credits and the viva voce exam is worth four credits. 6. The course of study is as follows: * **Semester I:** * Constitution and New Challenges * Law and Justice Delivery System * Two Optional Papers from Optional Paper Group A * **Semester II:** * Comparative Constitutional Systems * Aspects of Social and Economic Justice * Two Optional Papers from Optional Papers Group B * **Semester III:** * Environmental Law * Criminal Justice Administration and Human Rights * Two Optional Papers from Optional Paper Group C * **Semester IV:** * Law and Social Change * Research Methodology * Dissertation in lieu of Papers (3) and (4) <start_of_image> - - - ### Examinations: 1. All students who have been admitted will take an examination at the end of each semester. 2. Each paper is worth 100 marks. * **Internal Evaluation:** * Theory Papers: 25 marks. Three tests will be taken by the University/College/Institute. The two best scores will be used. * **External Evaluation:** * Theory Papers: 75 marks * Dissertation: 75 marks. * Viva Voce: 25 marks 3. Mark sheets will reflect the student's performance using a _Credit and Grading System._ 4. Cases of academic misconduct and violations of examination rules shall be addressed by the University's ordinances. 5. At the end of the semester, students shall be granted a mark sheet including individual subject scores and their Semester Grade Point Average. 6. Students can move on to higher semesters only after achieving a minimum of 60% of credit in the previous semester. Students who do not meet this requirement will need to repeat the semester during the next academic year. 7. The final result for a student will be calculated as a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). 8. The calculation of credits and grades will be the same as for other post-graduate programs. 9. The examination duration for each paper is three hours. 10. Each theory paper will be graded out of a total of 100 marks. 11.
