THE CIRCULATORY S YS T E M THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM pg 21 Google Classroom Notes CIRCULATION CIRCULATION ✓Transport substances such as oxygen, nutrients and waste ✓3 parts: 1. Blood ✓Transports oxygen, water and digested food to all body cells and transports carbon dioxide and waste from different parts of the body to special organs where they are released from the body 2. Heart ✓Pumps blood to different parts of the body by means of a system of tubes that are called blood vessels 3. Blood vessels ✓Blood is carried to all parts of the body CIRCULATION of blood through the HEART ✓Blood therefore flows TWICE through the heart during a full circulation ✓Deoxygenated blood is pumped from the right side of the heart to the lungs where blood receives oxygen and leaves carbon dioxide ✓Oxygenated blood then returns to the left of the heart from where it is pumped to the rest of the body to supply oxygen to the cells. Work Answer questions 1 - 3.7 in the handout.
