INVENTORY TRAINING 263 *EVERYDAY IS INVENTORY MINDSET * Jordan/Inventory Lead and Brandon/RSLs * 3-5 Crew Members on Inventory Team (Mates in Training) * Create EXCITEMENT for the entire team RECEIVING 1. RFID SCANNING & FUNCTIONS - Triggers - Trigger functionality i.e. RFID vs. CASE vs. UPC - Data clearing DISCREPANCIES/EXCEPTIONS 1. Print manifests before delivery 2. Work in teams of at least two when breaking down pallets 3. Stickers facing out 4. RFID scan each stack 5. Double in real time by checking off manifest 6. Finish one pallet before moving onto next pallet 7. Ensure Mates and Crew match sticker to box SCHEDULE 5AM MATE TO FACILITATE AND ENSURE THIS PROCESS. 5AM MATE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLETING ALL PAPERWORK/MANIFESTS IDEALLY BEFORE OPENING AND NO LATER THAN 10AM DSD 1. To be done by Mate or Crew trained specifically on DSD procedures 2. Must be scanned in by RFID gun using DSD function 3. Use paperwork as a form of doubling in real time 4. Proof of count stamp upon receiving 5. Must be scanned immediately into “SCAN TO DSD INVOICE” 6. Double day of ideally no later than 10am. SHARES/UNSALEABLES 1. Start with the “WHY” and the importance of properly handling shares 2. Engage, coach, and train Crew on shares procedures 3. Assign appropriate amount of Crew in the morning and evening process shares 4. Prior to opening designate space for frozen and refrigerated shares 5. Prioritize shares at the bridge and register happen in real time 6. Post produce bar codes at shares station 7. Separate organic shares from conventional (best practice is to have Crew do this while working sections) 8. Mates need to review previous day’s shares and follow up with on any irregularities or questions DURING INITIAL TEAM MEETING TEACH, COACH, AND REVIEW SHARES SCANNER BEST PRACTICES AND PROCESSES MARK UP/MARK DOWN 1. Designate sign artist or Mate every Wednesday to print, count, re-sign mark up/mark downs 2. Involve section leaders 3. Daily sign walk by sign artist, section leader, and Mates 4. AM Bridge Mate needs to check for random mark up/mark downs daily CUSTOMER RETURNS AND EXCHANGES 1. Hassle free return policy. All in depth inquiries should be done by store leadership 2. CE Leader must be present and engaged 3. Create store specific return slip 4. When return cannot be processed immediately provide a return slip to customer to process at register 5. Crew ALWAYS ring three bells 6. Whoever initiates returns should complete the process immediately BACKROOM 1. Work with section leaders to create proper backstock guidelines and strive for ordering for a day’s business 2. Labels out and legible in backstock 3. Designated area for perishable and non-perishable shares 4. “Merchandise the backstock” 5. Keep back door closed at all times except for work related tasks GRAND FINALE 1. Clear expectations from CE Leader 2. Provide support by scheduling proper amount of registers and baggers 3. Follow up with Crew revealing patterns in the VOIDS and CREW DISCOUNT reports 4. Scan produce 5. Update Flipchart on a regular basis 6. Go backs and spoils processed immediately CREATE ENGAGING REGISTER CHALLENGES CREW PURCHASES 1. All Crew purchases must have a receipt or store leadership initials and prior to consumption 2. No holding items 3. All shopping must be done when they are finished working for the day and no big shops while opening/closing the floor i.e. pre/post production hours 4. Weekly review of crew discount report DEMO & SAMPLES 1. Create sheets for demo products and Crew MEAs 2. All products need to be scanned and not manually entered 3. Keep containers in demo kitchen to double check against sheets 4. Ring up Demo after every hour. Communicate with log writer for the day accordingly HELMS AS A PRIORITY AND STANDARD IN MANY FORMS COMMUNICATE AND PRAISE
