With the technical convenience provided by this software, students will be able to invest more of their time to innovate and understand the real world as they take on practical tasks such as designing furniture, houses and other types of buildings. slidesmania.com SketchUp SketchUp has the most easy-to-use interface among all 3D Modeling Software making it the ideal 3D modeling program to learn for beginners. There are two types of SketchUp: SketchUp Pro and SketchUp Make. SketchUp Pro, which has more features, is designed for professional use; SketchUp Make, which is a freeware, is designed for hobbyists and beginners. slidesmania.com slidesmania.com Learn Tab slidesmania.com Learn Tab The Learn Tab is SketchUp’s guide to other additional and helpful features that you can use with the program. slidesmania.com License Tab slidesmania.com License Tab The License tab tells the users how long they are authorized to use the program. slidesmania.com Template Tab slidesmania.com Template Tab The Template tab determines what type of work space you are going to have. slidesmania.com slidesmania.com Inside the Workspace 13 slidesmania.com 1 Title Bar Title Bar is where the software logo, file name and the window mode is located. The file name allows us to identify the SketchUp file we create. The default name for a new file is labeled Untitled like on the photo above. On the other hand, the window mode like in other programs enables us slidesmania.com to minimize, re-size and close the window we just opened. 15 slidesmania.com 2 Menu Bar The Menu Bar consists of eight (8) drop-down menu: File involves matters about the SketchUp file like the basic tasks of saving your work, opening existing SketchUp files and creating new SketchUp files. Edit contains options that allow users to edit their existing drawings like cutting, copying and pasting slidesmania.com compatible objects inside the model space. It also contains commands that allow users to edit their work easily such as making groups and components which we will learn eventually. 2 Menu Bar View includes options for optimization of the user’s viewing experience in the model space like adding sun shadows and creating animation. Camera Menu allows users to change the view point inside the model space like viewing from the top. Draw includes commands necessary for drawing slidesmania.com different kinds of lines and various shapes. 17 2 Menu Bar Tools includes commands necessary for manipulating the drawn lines and shapes inside the model space like changing sizes of objects and changing the object’s material. Window includes options similar to the view menu but more advanced. Isometric SKETCHUP Basic Commands The following are SketchUp’s Basic Command: slidesmania.com SKETCHUP BASIC COMMANDS Enables selection of objects inside the model space. For single selection, click Select Tool and then click on Select Tool the object. For multiple selections, click Select Tool, and drag around the objects to be selected. Is used to move objects inside the model space.
