Proper display of our uniform has a positive reflection on the individual as well as the organization. It is the intent of this policy to assure that all suppression and administrative personnel are compliant and informed about what is expected. 1047.09.02 Scope This policy applies to the following BSFC&RD personnel: Administration – Chief, Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, Division Chief, Fire Marshal, Assistant Fire Marshal, Administrative-Finance Director, Human Resource Director, and Administrative Assistant Battalion Chief Training Captain Lieutenant, Fire Inspector, Plan Reviewer Firefighter This policy does not attempt to cover emergency protective gear, but it does cover the uniform to be worn on medical calls, around the station, and while on the drill ground. Also contained in this policy is how to properly display badge, name plate, award bars, and service pins in a uniformed manner. Can be worn for food pick-up after 16:00 hours. Cannot be worn if dining at a restaurant. Jumpsuits and duty uniforms can be worn by different crewmembers on the same responding unit after 16:00 hours. Jumpsuits can be utilized under other circumstances at the discretion of the Battalion Chief. These bars are to be worn on your Dress, Class A, B, and C uniforms. They are to be displayed just above your name and “serving since” plate. The priority of importance will indicate the order they are to be displayed. The highest priority of importance will be displayed higher and to the inside. When an award is given more than one time, a star will be added to the existing bar. For example, if a person was to be awarded the Phoenix award two times he/she would display the enamel bar with one star. (See chart and landmark examples. Enamel bars below are listed from top to bottom in order of highest priority.) Phoenix Award – Fire Save Phoenix Award – Medical Save Stork Award – Baby Delivery Distinguished Service Award District Employee of the Year Officer of the Year Firefighter of the Year Paramedic of the Year EMT of the Year Fire Crew of the Year EMS Crew of the Year Fire Prevention Employee of the Year C:\powerdms\convert\Temp\f1089d20-50b5-4b49-b7d0-c65419663d9f.doc Page 5 of 7 Service pins are presented at the Monthly Board Meeting following your anniversary date, and are to be displayed just above your enamel service bars. They are presented at the following intervals of service: 1 year 5 years 10 years 15 years 20 years 25 years 30 years no gem stone Aqua Marine Ruby Sapphire Emerald Cubic Zirconia Diamond Unit citations are awarded at times of meritorious service and are to be displayed at the same level as your service pin to the inside, above your enamel award bars. Organizational pins are representative of past service to your Country or significant accomplishments. These pins are to be displayed below your nameplate on the flap of your pocket. This list includes the following: Armed Services: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard Smoke Diver Honor Guard Fire Officer Chief Fire Officer Executive Fire Officer Chief Medical Officer Chief Association College Alma Mater Additions to this list can be submitted to the Chief and considered on a case by case basis.
