The clock face is divided into 12 sections (12 equal big divisions) numbered 1 to 12. Each section is further divided into 5 smaller sections (equal small divisions). **Points to Remember:** * In 60 minutes, the minute hand gains 55 minutes on the hour hand. * The hands coincide once in every hour. * The hands are in the same straight line when they are opposite to each other. * When the hands form a right angle (90°), they are 15 minutes apart. * When the hands are in opposite directions, they are 30 minutes apart. * The hands form a right angle twice in every hour, 22 times in a 12-hour period, and 44 times in a 24-hour period. * The hands are in a straight line or opposite once in every hour, 11 times in a 12-hour period, and 22 times in a 24-hour period. **EXAMPLE 11** Reaching the place of meeting on Tuesday 15 minutes before 8:30. Anuj found himself half an hour earlier than the man who was 40 minutes late.
