ARTIST INFORMATION Fine artists first learn to sketch and begin with a pencil and sketch pad to work with an idea on paper. Artists transfer their vision to canvas or other medium, and this may mean working in pencils, oil, watercolor or pastels. All artists’ work aims to create an overall reaction from a viewer. ARTISAN INFORMATION Artisans are craftsmen who make practical artistic products, such as earings, urns, stained glass and other accessories. Artisans gain their knowledge by studying under master craftsmen and then practicing with continued study. They spend a good portion of their time selling and promoting their items in various marketplaces. RELATED CAREERS: A career related to an artist is a graphic designer, who develops layouts using artwork, photographs, or illustrations RELATED CAREERS: The one who belongs to a field similar to that of an artisans is a metalworker. They build products using metal for construction, artistic or manufacturing purposes. AWARD, RECOGNITION, AND RENOWN FOR AN ARTIST Award is something that is conferred or bestowed especially in the basis of merit or need. In giving award there are two aspects of reputation: recognition and renown. AWARD, RECOGNITION, AND RENOWN FOR AN ARTIST Recognition refers to an esteem credit given to an artist’s best performance in the art world. A renown artist signifies a more cosmopolitan form of recognition beyond the esoteric circles in which the artist moves. Those who proclaimed are given a Grand Collar symbolizing their status ORDER OF NATIONAL ARTISTS Highest national recognition given to Filipinos who have made distinct contributions in the field of arts and letters.
