The forked column is jointed at the base and has its fork upwards, from the constructive point of view being still a V shaped column, following the same static lows. 01 ⬣Beams that have V-shapes (in the plan view) are commonly found in the corners of residential and commercial buildings. such beams can be analysed and designed using strain-energy principles especially when the beam is fixed at both ends. OR engineers may be tempted to design v-shaped beams as two cantilevers meeting at a point, but this is not strictly the case. There will be a need to assess other internal stresses such as torsion, and to understand the actual nature of the distribution of internal forces.For a v-shaped beam subjected to a uniformly distributed load w (kN/m). ⬣(The bending moment at the centre of the beam Mc is given by; Mc = (wL2)/6 x [sin20/(sin20 + Acos20)Where;λ = EI/GJL = half the total length of the beam AC0 = Half the angle between the two sides of the v-shape beam. 02 ⬣ Pros& Cons Of V Structure System Pros: lower construction costs compared to conventional one. lower home maintenance costs, checked for a multi-years housing system. better use of the terrain spatial potential resistance to earthquakes and tornadoes, safe live environment in extreme weather conditions. fire resistance. high thermal efficiency. large acoustic insulation, use of less materials than in conventional houses, and in case of Eartship homes use of recycled materials. leaving the area for plants and animals - supporting natural ecological processes and maintaining high quality habitats. Significant impact on the CO2reduction in the atmosphere by reducing the energy demand and leaving on the earth surface vegetated areas, biotopes support and biological diversity. minimal impact on the landscape. 02 ⬣ Pros& Cons Of V Structure System Cons: psychical barriers - especially in constructions without windows. in many cases, too small amount of day light. poor design of the building may appear problems with ventilation and air quality in individual rooms. in the case of poor building insulation problems with moisture, rodents and insects may occur. during the flood there is a possibility of drowning inhabitants in the underground house. there is a possibility of house collapsing in case of structural defects and misuse o the area above the house (roof, roof with woody vegetation). The need for a very good roof protection of the house with special anti-corrosion foil, so that the plants do not damage its structure. In the case of building the housing estate or underground cities will be needed dedicated technical and infrastructural solutions, that can significantly increase. 02 -The main advantages of the V-shaped column are that the middle span is short, and the three spans are supported by the assemblage two columns at one foundation. The V- shaped column design generally requires more steel reinforcement than the equivalent straight column, so it is very significant to improve the tensile strength of concrete. The concrete tensile strength of structural members may also be enhanced by utilizing additional steel-reinforced rebar and mixing fibers with concrete materials -Structural engineers used V-shaped columns based on technical requirements. The inclination of the V-shaped column underlines the individual purpose of the base floor. Two rows of columns are provided to the superior floors, transferring all the loads to the base floor. The upper connection of the V-shaped column can exist using different approaches: with eccentric support, with a cantilever, or forked. The efficiency of a V-shaped column structure depends on the angle of inclination -The structural columns influence the configuration of the buildings and furniture arrangement in conventional building construction, requiring columns with particular shapes.
