# Private Confession **The Advantages:** * Able to call sin out in words * Can hear you are forgiven **The Drawbacks:** * Ties forgiveness to specific sin * Fear of saying it out loud to someone * Judgement * Worry about the personality of the person * Hearing it too much # Receiving Forgiveness as if from Jesus Himself **The Advantages:** * Getting near the word spoken to one. * Hearing "I forgive your sins" **The Drawbacks:** # NOT GRANTING FORGIVENESS - CHURCH DISCIPLINE **Why exercise church discipline?** * So people don't think sin doesn't matter **Matthew 18:15-17:** If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.'
