Health Services UNIVERSAL FACTORS OF EDUCATION ▪Universal access to education is that all people have an equal opportunity in education, regardless of their social class, race, gender, sexuality, ethnic background or physical and mental disabilities. GLOBAL EDUCATION ▪ Global education is the integration of social, economic, environmental, and political aspects of our world into curriculum. ▪A global education approach to teaching focuses on the students’ place in the world. A NATIONAL SYSTEM OF EDUCATION ▪The concept of the national system of education refers to the education system that considers national aspirations and needs when it is structured. Every nation is different from others, and its development is aligned with various aspects and factors. ▪Every developing nation aspires to create its own identity all around the world. Hence, it needs a strong national system of education that promotes its image in front of the world. CONTINUE ▪Every developing nation aspires to create its own identity all around the world. Hence, it needs a strong national system of education that promotes its image in front of the world. The following are the various factors that influencing the national systems of education. FACTORS THAT AFFECT EDUCATION ▪The following factors that influence the national educational system ▪1.Geogographical factor 5.Language factor ▪2. Economic factor 6.Political factor ▪3. Social and cultural factor ▪4. Historical factor UNIVERSAL AND GLOBAL FACTORS – 1. FAMILY ▪The family is often the site of socialization, where people initially experience relationships that mimic systems of oppression that occur within society. 1.FAMILY ▪According to the cycle of socialization, families are where people are socialized or learn societal values, expectations, and norms (Adams, Bell, and Griffin 2007). ▪The oppressive structure of patriarchal society is implemented within the family, re-creating gender oppression. CONTINUE ▪For example, as a social system, patriarchy values male authority and rule, male dominance, and male control. Within a patriarchal family, this looks like the father or male figure of the household acting as the authority for the family. ▪(Is this the same today?) PROTECTIVE FACTORS ▪Five Protective Factors that are foundation of the Strengthening Families Approach: ▪1. parental resilience ▪ 2. social connections ▪3. concrete support in times of need ▪ 4. knowledge of parenting and child development ▪ 5. social and emotional competence of children. PARENTAL RESILIENCE ▪Parental resilience is defined as a parent's own inner resources and coping skills that help them to handle stress and crises. Resilient coping skills allow a parent to be able to solve problems, keep calm and collected when upset, and make it through challenging time FACTORS TO BUILD PARENTAL RESILIENCE ▪These may include ▪1. faith ▪2. flexibility ▪3. humor ▪4. communications skills ▪5. problem-solving skills ▪6. mutually supportive caring relationships ▪7 the ability to identify and access outside resources LIFE STRESSORS ▪1. Typical events and life changes (e.g., moving to a new city or not being able to soothe a crying baby) ▪2. Unexpected events (e.g., losing a job or discovering that your child has a medical condition or disability) LIFE STRESSORS ▪3. Individual factors (e.g., substance abuse or traumatic experiences) ▪4. Social factors (e.g., relationship difficulties or feelings loneliness and isolation) ▪5. Community, societal, and environmental conditions (e.g., persistent poverty, racism, or a natural disaster) SOCIAL CONNECTIONS ▪What does Social Connections look like? ▪Social connections are: ▪ engaging in supportive relationships with others ▪ having feelings of respect and appreciation ▪ accepting help from others, while also providing help to others THE STRENGTHENING FAMILIES PROTECTIVE FACTORS ▪ 1.
