Types of Prayer Adoration - A prayer of adoration is a prayer that praises God’s goodness and majesty. In adoration, our focus is on God - who He is, and our worship of Him. Psalm 111:1-4: the Lord’s work is great v.2, the Lord’s work is honorable and glorious, His righteousness endures forever, His works are to be remembered, God is gracious and full of compassion. Confession - 1) acknowledging personal sin to God and then celebrating the forgiveness that was already provided through the death, burial, resurrection of Jesus 2) and the act of declaring the Word - the prophecies and written word of God Bible Character: David Psalm 51:4 1 John 1:9 Thanksgiving - we are thanking God for being God; offering thanks to God for His benevolence (mercy, joy, love, salvation, and giving). Prophetic prayer is Speaking out in the form of a command, to say what God says, it is a God-breathed word. Prophetic intercession is a sharp and powerful form of prayer that is communicated as a prophetic word. Its not an ask, its a command for something to be done. Isaiah 55:11, joshua 10:12, hebrews 11:3 Jeremiah 1:7 Genesis 1 ( God’s word has the power to create.) Prophecy: edification, exhortation and comfort. Builds up people, encourage people and comforts people. Warfare - Confronting the Kingdom of Satan with the weapons of God’s Kingdom, preparing the way for the Glory of God The 72 other Apostles commissioned and sent by Jesus Luke 10:1-2 Ephesians 6:10-13 Lament - A prayer of lament is a type of prayer that passionately talks to God about the pain and sorrow that one person is suffering. God wants us to bring our fears, doubts, and despair to Him. In 1 Peter 5:7, we are told to cast all our anxieties on Him. Lamentations 5:1-5 Psalm 13:2-3 Prayer of Faith - The prayer of faith is rooted in our confidence in God’s Word. When you are sure that what you are praying for is God’s will for you, the prayer of faith can be employed. The prayer of faith is knowing God’s will, praying it and receiving it from Him. Not forgiving and doubting are the two greatest hindrances to prayers of faith. Mark 11:20-25 speak it and believe it Luke 7:7,9 James 5:13-18 Matthew 9:18-26 faith to make whole and to raise the dead. James 1:5-8 double-minded-undecided Prayer is to be employed and enjoyed.
