Every reasonable effort should be made to perform gross decontamination on-scene so as to minimize contamination of the fire apparatus. The Incident Safety Officer (ISO), Incident Commander or Company Officer shall be responsible for directing, managing on-scene gross decontamination 2 RESPONSIBILITIES It is the responsibility of all personnel to use and or wear the equipment, protective devices and or clothing that the employer requires to be worn when necessary. It is the responsibility of every supervisor to ensure personnel understand and adhere to this standard operating guideline and the procedures described within it. It is the responsibility of every supervisor to ensure personnel work in a manner and with the protective devices, measures and or clothing that the employer requires to be used and or worn. It is the responsibility of every supervisor to take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of all personnel. District Chiefs will monitor the timeliness of the decontamination process for the purpose of returning crews to a ready-to-respond condition as expeditiously as possible. 3 DECONTAMINATION All personnel performing any decontamination procedures shall ensure the following minimum level of PPE is worn: Safety glasses as required Nitrile gloves N95 respirator The degree of contamination of the fire apparatus will determine the cleaning it will undergo and may include but is not limited to the following: Toronto Fire Services Training Note: 106.12 Training & Technical Operations Division Effective Date: September 20, 2022 Page 2 of 3 3.1 INTERIOR CAB Interior Cab Checklist: The contamination within the cab will determine the decontamination required. Don N95 respirator, safety glasses and nitrile gloves Remove contaminated equipment from inside cab (set aside for cleaning) Wipe cab doors with designated cloth and cleaning solution Wipe cab console, engine cowling and centre console with designated cloth and cleaning solution Wipe cab head liner with designated cloth and cleaning solution Wipe cab seats with designated cloth and cleaning solution Wipe any other area in the cab that may have been contaminated with designated cloth and cleaning solution Clean all interior glass with designated cloth and cleaning solution Sweep cab floor and clean with mop and designated cleaning solution Return all equipment to cab of apparatus once cleaned If the apparatus is equipped with removable/washable seat covers, please clean or wash them as per manufacturer's instructions. 3.2 EXTERIOR COMPARTMENTS Exterior Compartments Checklist: The contamination within the compartments will determine the decontamination required. Don N95 respirator, safety glasses and nitrile gloves Remove contaminated equipment from inside compartments (set aside for cleaning) The compartments and equipment shall be cleaned with the designated cleaning solution. The equipment shall be returned to its original location 3.3 APPARATUS EXTERIOR The apparatus exterior shall be washed with the designated cleaning solution, wash brushes and/or wash mitts and then rinsed with clean water.
