Three Other than the satisfaction you received from working, what else do you want your employment career to provide you with throughout your lifetime? Does your employment allow you to fulfill most of your ambitions, and goals and provide you with enough income to sustain you to live the life you want? To better answer this question, you must understand the difference between your needs and your ‘wants’. What are your needs and what are your ‘wants’? How much income do you have to have to satisfy your monthly overhead expense needs such as rent, food, cell phone and utilities? Perhaps a vehicle with a few dollars left over to put away for savings. Most of the time it takes many years to develop a financially rewarding and emotionally satisfying career that is so enjoyable it doesn’t seem like work at all. It’s important to find something you love to do because your career choice will demand most of your time, close to twelve hours of your sixteen waking hours a day at least five days a week. That comes to about 60 hours out of the 168 hours available in a seven-day week or in percentages that come to 38% of the hours of the week. Or another way to look at this is it’s 102 hours or 60% of the hours you are awake, that’s if you sleep only six hours per night. This is a huge personal commitment to dedicate to your job choice therefore, it’s so much easier to get up and go to work if you love what you’re doing. If you are not working the job, you love it will take more of a commitment and sacrifice to earn your paychecks. Many of you want to achieve your ‘American Dreams’ which may mean owning a nice vehicle, house, and a family. Other goals may also include having money in the bank, nice possessions, vacations, retirement savings, and the ability to send their children to college and live to see their grandchildren do well. Is this too much for you to want out of life? No, it isn’t, but it takes a lot of planning. If you have a plan, strategies, patience, and willingness to make the necessary sacrifices to achieve your dreams you will be successful. These are some of the things that you have the power to control and the ability to improve during your life. The sacrifices and commitments needed to achieve your goals will be challenging at first but very rewarding to you as they become your way of life. Then, there are those things you have no control over like the weather, accidents, lay-offs, illness, and death. The roads of life can be very bumpy, and full of unexpected challenges, but the journey is still very attainable with discipline, perseverance, and sometimes a little luck. There is a saying, “People don’t plan to fail, they simply fail to plan”. Planning gives you actual outlines and directions to achieve your goals and the ability to measure your progress and make the necessary adjustments to stay on track. Article: One of the hardest lessons we must learn in life is patience. The dictionary defines patience as the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset. An athlete who is patient will see a challenge through from start to finish, despite the struggles encountered on his/her journey. Patience is more than a virtue; it is a powerful for achieving your goals. Famous novelist Leo Tolstoy (perhaps best known for War and Peace) summarized the importance of patience with the following: “The strongest of all warriors are these two – Time and Patience.” Unfortunately for many of us, we think we don’t have enough time to be patient. We run around like chickens with their heads cut off in every direction. From the moment we wake up to the moment we put our smartphones down to actually get a few hours of zzzz’s. We are running rampant. Our patience is thin. And it’s very rare. By: Pam Sahota Sunday, July 16, 2017 Source: Blog, Mind, Soul Article: Be patient as it shows high moral standards. One strength that will benefit you in every area of your life is patience. When things get uncomfortable in life, patience is a virtue and it will help you deal with the discomfort in a way that best suits your life and the people around you. Patience is an exercise of self-control that shows you can handle life when times get tough, have the ability to look outside of yourself, and can withstand judgment when you need to. In short, exhibiting patience shows that you have a high moral standard in life. By: Mercury reasons Y patience is aVirtue. Your ability to put the time in, have patience and allow the natural progressions of your work to take its course is priceless. “Anything worth having is worth waiting for”. Most people are very impatient, they want everything now. They see someone with it, and they want it too. This is called immediate self-gratification. There was a time in the past fifty years when credit cards were not available at all, and you had to wait until you saved the money in order to purchase anything. There used to be retail store’s charge plates and ‘lay-away’ back then as they exist today. Now there are those ‘Buy Now, Pay Later’ loan options which have very high interest rates if you don’t pay off the item in full during the terms of the purchase. These type purchases can negatively affect your credit score if they are not paid off on time. An example of patience is a farmer who plants corn kernels and must depend on the rain and sunshine to nurture the crops until it’s time to harvest them. He cannot influence, control or rush nature’s natural course, so, he must exercise patience. But he must do everything he can to ensure the success of the crops such as preparing and fertilizing the soil. Only then he can reap the benefits of his labor. What are your dreams for your lifetime? As you prepare yourselves for a life of independent living a.k.a. ‘Adulting’. You must select the occupation or craft you intend to spend the next 30 – 40 years of your life earning a ‘Living Wage’. You can train yourselves to have patience in many aspects of your lives, just as you did to learn your job skills. Take your current job, once you become aware of the employers’ pay schedule you have to adapt to every two weeks or the 15th and the 30th pay period. You must make the necessary adjustments in your spending habits to correspond to your pay cycle. This allows you to pay your bills on time.
