NOTES SUBJECT: MORAL EDUCATION GRADE 9 Book: 3, Unit 8- Lesson 3: The Good Citizens in my Country Learning Objectives: The students will be able to; Demonstrate the willingness to develop and apply the competencies necessary for effective civic engagement. Identify how they can make a positive difference to the local community and wider society in which they live. Emirati citizen has duties and Responsibilities: Duties towards his or her family Duties towards his or her community Duties towards his or her Country Duties and Responsibilities are: To provide an honourable life to the family To behave with good ethics and favourable manners To be loyal to the nation To observe laws To work towards the advancement and prosperity of the nation. General Ethics and Conducts of a Good Emirati Citizen Being honest and honourable in daily dealings. Good manners and respecting public taste and civilized promoted values. Being tolerant when dealing with people. Being patient, mild tempered and observes religion. Faithful towards Islamic values and religious tolerance. Embrace the customs and traditions of the UAE. Aiming for brilliance and high standards, knowing that success comes from continued effort and hard work. A good citizen aims for creativity and innovation and also develop leadership skills. A good citizen also works to achieve education and to achieve balance between psychological and physical health and balance between work and family. When abroad, a good citizen behaves well, observes laws, customs and traditions of the host country, being careful to represent the UAE in a positive way. What makes a good citizen different from one country to another. In Emirati society family has a big role to play. Parents must educate their children ensuring that they understand the bond between family and community. Parents also have the duty to teach their children about Islamic values and good ethics. Parents also need to teach Emirati customs and traditions to their children. Respect other cultures within the community without any discrimination. Citizens should feel a sense of social responsibility. Good citizens should do voluntary and charitable work and also help the less fortunate people of the society. ************************************************************************
