## JESUS - was used as a VOICE - time of the Roman Empire - life was far from PRETTY - No freedom - you do not have SELF-DETERMINATION - Be SILENT to survive - God is UNHAPPY with the INJUSTICE - Bible - extensive reflections - infallible (not prone to error) - language of symbols - it is God who is at work ### POINTS: - when God moves people that have courage ("the fearful become courageous") - trigger point of Jesus is the death of John the Baptist - John the PRECURSOR - INSPIRED Jesus to step up - Jesus chose to repent and responded by TEACHING - it takes just a VOICE - their problem was very BIG since they created a SYSTEM ("survival of the fittest") - Education is KEY / is a RIGHT - subjected to IGNORANCE - when u are armed with a BETTER PERSPECTIVE/MINDSET - Jesus ANALYZED the situation first, he learned that the situation was SIMPLE - AWAKANE the CONSCIOUSNESS of the people - Jesus was a THREAT, so he was deleted - Jesus made a commitment & became UNSTOPPABLE - Jesus' strategy was telling STORIES (parables) - INDIFFERENCE and INJUSTICE - "who is my neighbour?" - story of the good samaritan (story of 2 strangers) - a real neighbour is someone who cares for u - Jesus led to the birth of CHURCHES - people united by their FAITH that if they help one another no injustice can ever amount - Jesus DARED challenge the order of things at that time - he went around AWAKENING and OPENING peoples mind - REVOLUTION of the heart (metanoia complete change of heart) ### Jesus had a skill that was very MARKETABLE - known as magaling na CARPERNTERsa Nazareth - he was living THE life (good life) - Jesus's CALLING did not come after, but was there all along - jesus STALLED (waited) his calling - shows that Jesus was human (marunong din siyang matakot) - No choice but to be THROWN into the situation - the cousin became the trigger point; it was very PERSONAL - No turning back once the calling is answered/when u make the COMMITMENT/when you step up to the plate (challenge) - Jesus ANALYZED that INJUSTICE was only a part of the PROBLEM - people thought that they did not have any HAND in their suffering - people were into COMPLAININGand BLAMING - they can't take ACCOUNTABILITY - Jesus taught to change the MINDSET of the people - like MARY who never DEPENDED on anyone so she did not make EXCUSES - most honest, integral and straightforward - Jesus taught ACCOUNTABILITY - Mary and Jesus is for our EMULATION (tularan) - His legacy led to the BIRTH of CHURCHES (COMMUNITIESwho CARE for each other->this is the tangible EVIDENCE of his legacy ("what are u going to do? Are u going to wait?")) - Christians were KILLED/TERRORIZED - they were ENSLAVEDin the old system because they did not have CONTROL - they made their own system of economy/community - No patronage anymore of the old system - they pulled their resources together - "INJUSTICEboils down to ECONOMICS' - created a system of CO-OPERATION ## Context of His Death ### Points: - Jesus had a CONSCIOUSNESS - he knew all the RISKS, threats, dangers - What made him respond to the calling? - because finally it was his turn; the call of God cannot be DENIED anymore - Jesus taught by telling stories with a message - the message came out clearer than clear - talked about people's HYPOCRICY - "It's not what you take in that makes you impure, it what comes out of u" - In Jesus time, employers owned slaves - "This people are human beings and that they too are entitled to rest" - "Man is not made for the Sabbath, the Sabbath is made for man" - Jesus had a large followship - was the celebrity of his time - ITINERANT (he was mobile) going from town to town - Jesus was the most HONEST and STRAIGHTFORWARD - He had ELUDED arrest (disappear into the crowd) - Jesus was so LIBERAL and LIBERATING - He had no DICHOTOMY (no separation) between the things he said and the things he did - He did not care about the standards - He made a MOCKERY of the law's at that time - he DARED challenge in the open by going around teaching - Jesus earned the IRE (anger) - was called a DRUNKARD and GLUTTON (Mathew 11:19) - so many people LOVED and HATED him - ANOMOSITY grew - It looks like they (the higher ups) are being UNSEATED - The problem was that he could not MINCE (cut very small) his words - His enemies had to PLOT - they got one of his apostles, and bribed him to betray Jesus - He was perceived as a THREAT - They thought he was creating a REVOLUTION - Make each other HAPPY - His Death was not NATURAL, it was PREMATURE - IRATED - really angered people in positions of power - He was a real THREAT - He was an open TARGET - He was creating a REVOLUTION - His death had a CONTEXT from a historical perspective - The people will always be DEPENDENT on us (higher ups) - Instead of WAITING take ACTION - The new system was so SUCCESSFUL that the higher ups needed to use FORCE - From religious perspective, his death was PAYMENT - LIES are ABOMINATION - God introduced a new way of BELIEVING and LEAVING - APPLICATION of Jesus's teachings - shut yo goshdang MOUTH bruh - Jesus was BETRAYED - When he was CORNERED - His death became a greater STATEMENT - they were SCARED and DISMAYED - Promised MESSIAH - EXPECT - felt very DEFEATED - they cannot make SENSE - the expectation was so HIGH - Story of the Resurrection - A promise of VICTORY/VINDICATION - God is saying, "I have the last say. Your failure is not the end of it. Wait for me, hope in me, trust in me. In my own perfect time, i will put all things together for you. Just do what you can and I will come meet u there." - I will turn your failures into victories if you u don't give up - all about God turning tables to our favor - that problem can only do so much, sisikat din ang araw - God saying "I prevail. Your problem is just a problem" - failures are oppurtunities in disguises - failures are God's redirection - Story of God's immense power, grace, vindication (come from a state of life, and things are not the way u hope to be but then things will turn around to ur favor), victory over evil, favor (change for the BETTER) - source of so much HUMILIATION on the part of Jesus - MOCKERY is very PAINFUL - Mocking at His HELPLESSNESS - Died a death so UNDESERVING of Him - Crucifixion is a statement of TERROR - Looks like His death ended in resounding DEFEAT - Died physically, only to LIVE forever - Jesus was never FORGOTTEN - whats the BENEFIT of the story for us? - It is a story of HOPE. We all go through diff kinds of CRUCIFIXIONS. Our crucifictions is never the end of our story. We have to continually and perpetually hope/move on/move forward, no matter how small the PROGRESS. - Depression, the feeling of HOPELESSNESS, is such a huge LIE.
