Most platforms are able to use Steam to be able to play games from it, such as Among Us, Civilization VI and Elden Ring. Log-in information In the Project Info of the particular project you’re working on, you will have information to what account name and password you will use. (e.g. You’re linguist or screening for Greek – look for ‘Greek’ column and it will display an account name and password for you). How to access 1. Launch Steam, type in the information provided to you from the Project Info/Daily Task. 2. Steam will promptly request a “Steam Guard code”. Please inform your Lead of the account name and that a steam code has been sent. 3. Your lead might ask that you check your Outlook emails to get the details. How to change the language If you need to check localized content of the Steam Store or Store Game Page, you can do so by changing the language of the client (Steam client). At the top banner you will have the account name displayed. Account name > Account details > Language preferences You will have the option to set primary and secondary language. You can change your primary language to the one that you’ll be testing for. Changing language might require a restart of the client. How to add project to Library If the account that you’re testing on does not have the title in the Library list, you may get the title from Steam Store directly by a product key. Games > Activate a Product on Steam... When the Product Activation screen pops up, you may enter a product code provided by your Lead. *You can also search for the title and take it from the product page if a product code is not needed. Please flag to your Lead that it’s missing from the account if you have not received information about product codes being used. Moving content files • We should always pick the D-Drive (or the drive named ‘New Volume’) when installing a build. However, we can move the content if the build was mistakenly installed in C-Drive. • Library > Right-click on title > Properties...> Select Local Files > Move install folder • Select the drive the files should be moved to. Then click "Move" to start the progress. Steam Cloud Some games will utilise a cloud service saving option, which means that data will be saved both on your computer as well as online (onto the Steam platform). While the function is very useful in saving time, sometimes we must disable it to check parts of the game. his will prevent Steam from automatically T synchronising your saves and allows testing things such as no save files and save file corruption. Steam Cloud To enable/disable, you would need to mark the title of the project in question: 1. Inside Library, select right-click 2. Select Properties 3. Select General and check/uncheck “Keep games saves in the Steam Cloud for [TITLE]” Integrity of game files • Verifying the integrity of game files will compare the files on your computer with the ones on the Steam servers. If some files are different, they'll be changed or repaired. The saved data will not be affected. 1. Click on Library 2. Right-click on the title (game) 3. Select Properties from the drop-down menu 4. Select Local Files from the left-hand panel. 5. Select "Verify integrity of game files". Beta access Most of the testing is not done on the live version of the game, meaning that the version is closed to the anyone without the beta access key. To access the game version, your Lead will provide you with a “beta key”. It will be provided for you in the Daily Task. Right-click on the title (game) > Properties... > Select BETAS > Paste (CRTL+V) your key code Beta access If the code entry is successful, a blue prompt below the beta key entry will appear. Click on the prompt & Steam will automatically update and verify the title. The Beta will appear in the bar above or sometimes be unnamed, but you will notice a difference with the dropdown list. 1. Game Anti-Cheat 2. Certain games will have more strict anticheat systems than others, which may require you to launch either the game or the Steam Launcher as an administrator. 1. Right-click on Steam 2. Click on "Run as administrator" 3. Ask your lead to enter the PC/Domain admin username and password This will not work if you have already opened Steam or have it running in the background of your PC.
