Ph.tech. Suspensions BY/ RAWNAQ KADHIM Example of suspending agents; Tragacanth, gelatin, methylcellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, methylcellulose, microcrystalline cellulose :General method procedure.Suspensions are prepared by grinding solid materials in the mortar.Subtract the volume of liquid ingredients from ¾ of the vehicle.2 -The remaining amount of the vehicle divided into 3 parts.3 First part of the vehicle ,contain wetting agent(if needed), added to mortar in -.order to prepare a smooth paste by trituration All soluble ingredients are dissolved in the second part of the vehicle and added -.to the smooth paste to get slurry. The slurry is transformed to a graduated cylinder - The third part of the vehicle is used to rinse mortar and pestle and then -.transfer the remaining to the cylinder. Make up the dispersion to the final volume - : Procedure Finely powdered aspirin and benzoic in mortar, then mix 1 with tragacanth, add small vol. P. W( about 4 m l) to form paste.then dilute with P. W and wash the mortar Transfer to graduated cylinder and add benzoic & syrup 2 then complete the vol. to 20 ml with P. W Transfer the resultant suspension to clean amber bottle and 3 label it , label must contain the statement “ shake well before use Thank you
