YUSUF SALAMI October 2024 Definition of Theory A theory is a set of propositions that account for or explain certain phenomena or patterns of relationships among people, things or objects (Nworgu, 2015). It is a system for providing explanations about phenomena. Igbokwe (2018) defines a theory as 'a set of interrelated constructs (concepts), definitions and propositions that present a systematic view of phenomena by specifying relationships among variables to explain and predict phenomena'. It is a set of principles on which the conception of action is built.
