I WANDERED LONELY AS A CLOUD William Wordsworth Sound Devices: Rhyme scheme in verse and prose : the sound at the end ~ A B A B C C A (cloud ,crowd ) B(hills, daffodils) C (trees, breeze) 1. I wandered lonely as a cloud Rhythm ( meter ) only in verse : the pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables in a line 2. That floats on high o'er vales and hills, of verse. ~ Iambic (tow syllables ) مقطعينtetrameter (four feet)اربع تفعيالت 3. When all at once I saw a crowd, unstressed -stressed | ×4 4. A host, of golden daffodils; —/ | —/ | —/ | —/ | Repetition : a repeated word or line 5. Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Refrain : repetition of mere than one line. 6. Fluttering and dancing in the breeze. Alteration : repetition of consonant sounds ,usually sounds at the beginning of words. 5~ Beside the lake, beneath the trees (the \b\ sound ) Assonance : repetition of vowel sounds 6~And dances with the daffodils (the \æ\ sound ) 4~A host, of golden daffodils( the \oʊ\ sound 1. Continuous as the stars that shine 2. And twinkle on the milky way, Figures of Speech 3. They stretched in never-ending line Metaphor : a representation of one thing as if it were something else without a verbal signal such as like or as. 4.
