# Valli's Favourite Pastime A girl named Valliammai, called Valli, was eight years old and very curious. Her favourite pastime was standing in the doorway of her house, watching the street. There were no other children her age on her street, so this was all she had to do. Valli found watching the street just as enjoyable as any of the elaborate games other children played. The street provided her with many new and unusual experiences. The most interesting aspect was the bus that travelled between her village and the nearest town, passing by her house every hour.
