We all need clean, running water, but lots of Filipino homes struggle with leaky faucets, clogged pipes, and weak water flow. This study wants to figure out exactly what these common problems are, like dripping faucets wasting water, toilets that won\'t flush, or showers with just a trickle. We\'ll also look at why these things happen. Is it because the pipes are old and rusty? Maybe they weren\'t put in correctly in the first place? Or perhaps people don\'t know how to properly take care of their plumbing? We\'ll consider different types of houses too, from simple bahay kubos to tall apartment buildings, to see if some places have more problems than others.\ \ The Philippines has its way of getting water to houses, and we\'ll look at how that might affect things. For example, where does the water come from? How does it travel through the pipes? It\'s also important to see how these plumbing problems affect families. A leaky pipe isn\'t just annoying; it can waste a lot of water and even make people sick. Fixing plumbing can also be expensive. So, we want to understand how these issues impact people\'s lives. Finally, we\'ll try to find some good solutions. What\'s the best way to fix a leaky faucet? How can we prevent clogs? Are there rules about plumbing that everyone should know? Maybe there are even ways for neighbors to work together to solve plumbing problems in their community. By learning more about these issues, this project hopes to help everyone. **INTRODUCTION** Water is a fundamental necessity, and access to clean, reliable plumbing is essential for healthy and comfortable living. However, many Filipino households experience recurring plumbing problems that disrupt daily routines, strain family budgets, and even pose health risks. From leaky faucets and clogged drains to low water pressure and malfunctioning toilets, these issues can range from minor inconveniences to major disruptions. This research project explores the common plumbing problems faced by families in Barangay Putatan Muntinlupa City. By investigating the types of problems encountered, their potential causes, and their impact on households, this study aims to contribute to a better understanding of these challenges and potentially identify solutions to improve household water management in our community. This research is important because as a student, we've seen firsthand how plumbing problems can disrupt families in my neighborhood. We believe that understanding these issues is the first step towards finding solutions that can improve everyone\'s quality of life.\ \ **\ STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM** This research investigates the issue of plumbing problems in Filipino households, examining their types (e.g., leaks, clogs, low pressure), root causes (e.g., aging infrastructure, improper installation, maintenance), and influence of housing type. It analyzes the impact on daily life, water waste, costs, and health risks. The study aims to identify and propose feasible, context- specific solutions and preventative measures, considering local regulations and community-based approaches. To identify and analyze the three most common plumbing problems affecting households in \[Specific Location\] by \[Date\], determining their causes and proposing two solutions per problem, based on a surv**E**ey of \[Number\] households and local infrastructure data, also considering economic impact and solution cost-effectiveness. **RESEARCH QUESTIONS:\ \ **1.What is the significant effect of common plumbing problems on the economic stability of Filipino households? 2.Is there a significant impact of recurring plumbing clogs on the health and sanitation practices of families residing in squatter\'s area? 3.What is the significance connection between low water pressure due to plumbing issues on the daily routines and household management? **RESEARCH OBJECTIVES:** 1.To determine the correlation between the frequency of plumbing leak and the economic stability of low-income Filipino households , specifically quantifying the average monthly cost of water wastage and repairs attributable to leaks, and to propose at least two targeted interventions mitigate these economic burdens 2.To assess the impact of recurring plumbing clogs on the health and sanitation practices of families residing in squatters area evaluating the prevalence of related health issues ( waterborne illnesses) and unsanitary conditions resulting from clogs, and develop two community-based educational programs to promote proper plumbing maintenance and hygiene to reduce these negative health impacts. 3\. To analyze the relationship between consistently low water\ pressure caused by plumbing issues and the daily routines and\ household management, quantifying the average time spent and\ resources used to cope with low water pressure, and to\ recommend two infrastructure improvements or alternative water\ management strategies to address this problem and improve\ household efficiency **RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS (NULL):\ ** Related to Leaks and Economic Stability: - - Related to Clogs and Health/Sanitation: - - Related to Low Water Pressure and Daily Routines: - **SKETCH/TABLE OF OBSERVATIONS** **MATERIALS** Teflon Tape (Thread Seal Tape): Wrapped around pipe threads to create watertight seal. A very affordable and important material for preventing leaks. Washers and O-rings: Used in faucets and other fixtures to create a seal. Replacing worn washers and o-rings is a simple and cost-effective way to fix leaks. Plungers: Essential for clearing clogs in toilets and drains. A very\ affordable and effective tool. Drain Snakes: Used to clear more stubborn clogs further down the drain.\ Can be rented or purchased at a reasonable price. - **PROCEDURES** ***Clogged Toilet:*** Problem: Toilet won\'t flush, water level rises, potential overflow. Possible Causes: Too much tissue, non-flushable items, buildup. Procedure: Use a plunger. Make sure the plunger cup covers the hole completely and plunge vigorously up and down for several minutes. If the plunger doesn\'t work, try a toilet auger (also called a snake). Insert the auger into the toilet drain and crank the handle to break up the clog. As a last resort (and if you have adult supervision), you might try pouring hot (but not boiling) water and a bit\ of dish soap into the toilet. Let it sit for a while, then try plunging again. Be very careful with hot water! **RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS** This study investigated common plumbing problems in Barangay X, Metro Manila, surveying 10 households. The most\ frequent issues were leaky faucets, clogged toilets, and low water pressure. Leaky faucets were mainly attributed to worn-out\ washers and old pipes, impacting households through increased water bills and water wastage. Clogged toilets were primarily\ caused by improper waste disposal and insufficient flushing, leading to inconvenience and sanitation concerns. Low water\ pressure was linked to shared water sources and peak usage times, as well as aging pipes within individual households,\ affecting daily routines and limiting water availability. These findings suggest a combination of household practices and\ infrastructure issues contribute to these problems. \[Optional: Briefly compare with other studies, e.g., \"These findings are\ consistent with a 2020 study by the MWSS which also identified leaky faucets as a major problem...\"\]. Limitations include the\ limited sample size and reliance on self-reported data. This study emphasizes the need for public awareness campaigns on\ proper plumbing maintenance and community-based initiatives to address infrastructure issues. This study highlights the prevalence and impact of plumbing problems in Filipino households in\ \[Specific Location\]. The findings emphasize the need for \[Recommendations - e.g., public\ awareness campaigns on proper plumbing maintenance, community-based initiatives to address\ infrastructure issues, or government support for low-income families to repair plumbing\ problems\]. Addressing these issues is crucial for improving the quality of life, promoting water\ conservation, and protecting public health in Filipino communities.
