Title: Unlocking Career Potential: The Transformative Role of Internship Experiences on Management Accounting Graduates of PUP-Manila. Internship 1. Ito yung first step towards building a successful career since this is where students were first exposed to the actual accounting task, or practical application of the academic concept. HOWEVER, the gap between academic training and workforce demand is a persistent issue. 2. It bridges the gap between academic learning and real-world application. Research Gap: 1. Most research about internship focused on the practical application of skills during internships, pero hindi naman naa-address yung how their internship experiences influence the career goals of the graduates. Kung yung experiences ba nila is mas nag eencourage sakanila to continue pursuing a long term career in the field or the other way around. 2. Underexplored; more research is needed to assess the transformative effects of internships especially on these competencies. Dahil sa gap na ito, nalilimitahan yung kakayahan ng mga educational institution and career counselors especially on making a more suitable internship program for MA. Theoretical Framework: (From the study of Anjum 2020) There are four key dimensions which are: 1. Technical Skills Acquisition - where they get the chance to translate academic concepts into practical application 2. Professional Skills Development - where their soft skills such as communication, problem-solving, time management, etc were continuously develops which according to the study of Anjum, mas proficient ang soft skills ng mga nakacomplete ng internship nila compared to those who do not. 3. Personal Growth and Adaptability - where their adaptability and resilience were challenge especially in adapting new environment. 4. Career Opportunities and Networking - where they get a chance to build connection with the professionals within accounting field. It highlights that internships enhance the employability of graduates and prepare them for professional life. Conceptual Framework IPOO 1. Input - specific demographic data of the respondents 2. Process - assessment of how internship experiences in shaping the career success of the graduates 3. Output - the findings and as well as the recommendation 4. Outcome - practical implications of the findings, where the anticipated outcome of this study is Enhanced Internship Programs that will better align with students’ professional growth and career aspirations. Statement of the Problem 1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of the following variables? 1.1. Gender 1.2. Line of Department 1.3. Employment status 1.4. Type of company or industry 1.5. Mode of internship - Online/Face-to-Face/Blended 1.6. Department where the internship was conducted 2. What is the transformative role of internship experiences in the career success of Management Accounting Graduates of Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Manila in terms of this aspects: 2.1. Technical Skills Acquisition 2.2. Professional Skills Development 2.3. Personal Growth and Adaptability 2.4. Career Opportunities and Networking 3. Is there a significant difference in the respondent’s assessment on the transformative role of internship experiences on career success when they are grouped according to their profile? Scope and Limitations of the Study This study will focus of Management Accounting graduates at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Manila, the subject population will be from batch school year 2021-2022 up to the recent school year which is the S.Y. 2023-2024. In terms of potential limitation, the initial research design is survey method which may not interpret the full depth of the responses. Limited to a sample size of 320 MA graduates. Significance of the Study Management Accounting Students. It provides insights into how internships contribute to skill development, professional growth, and long-term career success. Educators and Internship Coordinators. The importance of aligning internship programs with students' learning objectives and professional goals. Industry Partners and Employers. It encourages companies to develop more structured and supportive internship experiences, fostering long-term professional growth among their interns and potentially retaining talent. Commission on Higher Education (CHED). May offer evidence-based recommendations to CHED for policy-making on internship standards for Management Accounting programs. Future Researchers. serves as a foundational reference for future research on experiential learning and career success. ______________________________________________________________________ CHAPTER 3 Methods of Research: Survey Method - which is an effective method for collecting quantitative data from a large group of respondents. 1. It will be a structured questionnaire consisting close-ended questions and Likert-scale items for efficient quantitative data collection. 2. Why: Since our study is quantitative research, it is more efficient to use survey questionnaire for gathering data. Population, Sample Size, & Sampling Technique: The target population will consists of graduates of BSMA Graduates from batch school year 2021-2022 up to the most recent school year 2023-2024. Using Slovin’s Formula with a 5% margin error - we were able to get the sample size of 320 respondents from the total population of 1,596 MA graduates from the 3 recent batches. Stratified Sampling Technique - since we’re targeting a specific subset of individuals na may relevant experience sa internship. Using this sampling technique, we can ensure proportional representation across subgroups example is internship modes, departments, and their batch year. ++ It will be much easier to compare their experiences and career success. And through this, mad madali rin ma-gegeneralize yung buong population ng graduates. 1. Number of Target Respondents: 307 Description of Respondents: 1. BSMA graduates of PUP-Manila. 2. From S.Y. 2021-2022 up to 2023-2024 3. Napili sila dahil they possess the necessary firsthand knowledge and experiences regarding sa transformative role of internship para sa kanilang career success. Research Instrument: Survey Questionnaire - which will consist of 3 main sections: survey eligibility, respondent’s profile, and the assessment of internship effectiveness and challenges which are ensured na align sa goal ng study. Data Gathering Technique: 1. We, researchers will send a letter of request sa PUP CAF-SC and sa PUP JPIA Manila via email para makuha yung mga names and number of recent BSMA graduates. 2. We will then distribute Google Form Survey Questionnaires for reliability testing. Which after this, we, researchers will submit a request for ethical clearance to the Research Management Office in PUP Manila. 3. Upon the release of the ethical clearance, we will directly disseminate the forms to a number of BSMA graduates through different messaging platforms tulad ng FB Messenger, Gmail, MS Outlook and Teams.
