Terminology: Primiparous/primip: rst pregnancy. Multiparous/multip: subsequent pregnancy. Gravidity: number of times been pregnant. Parity: number of times been pregnant beyond 20 weeks. Eg. G3P1: could be pregnant for the third time, but 1 miscarriage/termination and 1 delivery beyond 20 weeks, but we don’t know if alive and well, mode of delivery, complications etc. Pregnancy overview: 3 trimesters: 1. 24 weeks. 40 weeks: Term 37-40 weeks. Preterm 40 weeks. Calculating an estimated due date ( EDD ): last menstrual period Nutritional and general advice: Vitamins: folic acid and multivitamins ( not vitamin A ).
