Repair DR Shereen Fathy ASS. PROF. OF PATHOLOGY Course or fate of Acute inflammation Resolution Chronic inflammation spread Repair Repair Repair Repair Repair Cells of the body are divided according to the power of regeneration into three groups. 1- Labile cells: these cells proliferate continuously throughout life to replace aging cells. They includes: a) Surface epithelium as stratified squamous epithelium of the skin, columnar epithelium of alimentary tract and transitional epithelium of the urinary tract. b) Haemopoietic and lymphoid tissues. Stable cells: Do not proliferate under normal conditions but proliferate when there is a need. The group includes. a) Parenchymatous stable cells: liver, pancreas. b) Mesenchymal stable cells: fibroblasts. chondroblasts. Repeneration occurs with small damage to stable cells, while repair with fibrosis occurs in large damage as these cells have a moderate power of regeneration. 3- Permanent cells: can not proliferate at all as in muscle cells and nerve cells. ▪ Stable cells Parynchematous cells Mesenchymal cells Liver, Kideny Healing by fibrosis Wound Healing Complications Factors controlling Repair
