Pasulohan INTRODUCTION Region 7, also known as Central Visayas, is a captivating area in the Philippines that showcases a rich tapestry of cultures, traditions, and histories. Comprising four provinces—Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor—this region is renowned for its vibrant festivals, culinary delights, and unique local customs. Each province possesses its own distinct identity shaped by historical events, natural beauty, and the resilience of its people. CEBU Cebu is also known as the Queen City of the South and is a popular tourist destination for its beach resorts and diving spots. MOST POPULAR Sinulog Festival The Sinulog Festival is the most famous and widely celebrated festival in Cebu, held annually on the third Sunday of January. It honors the Señor Santo Niño (Holy Child Jesus) and features colorful street dancing, music, and religious processions. LEAST POPULAR Indigenous Practices Badjao Tribe. While some indigenous beliefs persist, they are often intertwined with Christian practices. Traditional rituals may not be as prominent but still influence certain community events. BOHOL The home of the famous Chocolate Hills, Bohol is one of the most visited destinations in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines. The island province offers breathtaking spots for history buffs, beach lovers, and adrenaline junkies. MOST POPULAR Sandugo Festival Celebrated every July, the Sandugo Festival commemorates the blood compact between Datu Sikatuna and Spanish explorer Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, symbolizing friendship and unity. LEAST POPULAR Dimiao Children’s Rondalla This group showcases traditional Filipino music using string instruments. NEGROS ORIENTAL Negros Oriental (also called Oriental Negros) is a province of the Philippines located in the Central Visayas region. This beautiful province in the Philippines is known for its stunning landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture. MOST POPULAR Buglasan Festival Known as the "Festival of Festivals," Buglasan is celebrated in October and showcases the diverse cultural heritage of Negros Oriental through street dancing, food fairs, and various cultural presentations. LEAST POPULAR Historical Sites While important for understanding the region's past, historical sites such as the Blood Compact site or colonial-era churches attract less attention than festivals. SIQUIJOR In 1892, Siquijor became a part of Negros Oriental, having previously been administered by Spain under the politico-military province of Bohol. MOST POPULAR Araw ng Siquijor and Solili Festival Held annually from September 12 to 17, this festival celebrates Siquijor's culture and heritage, featuring the Solili dance, which reenacts traditional courtship rituals. LEAST POPULAR Pamukad Festival Celebrated in Enrique Villanueva around July 15-16, this festival focuses on fishing traditions and rituals performed by local fishermen. THANK YOU
