**St. Stephen's College** **Form Three: Integrated Humanities Topic 6: Global citizenship and humanitarian work** Name: \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ Class: \_\_\_ ( ) Date: \_\_\_\_\_\_ Marks: \_\_\_/42 **[Part 1: Fill in the blanks (17 marks)]** **A Global citizenship** 1\. Global citizenship requires a person's emotion to go beyond their ethnic group or nation. They care not only about their community and country, but also about things happening in the rest of the world. They understand why there are injustice and poverty in the world and they are willing to take action to make the world more just and more peaceful. 2\. International interactions have become more frequent after the Second World War. With the technological innovation in information, communication and transportation, gaps between countries have been greatly reduced. In addition, there is a growing global interaction and interdependence. 3\. Citizens are people who have the citizenship of a country. Before the law of that country, they enjoy the corresponding rights and undertake the corresponding responsibilities. 4\. The awareness of global citizenship is a further extension of that of citizenship of an individual country. From individual, family, community, country, and then to the world, this is a relationship that all are linked with one another. 5\. In order to broaden our horizons, we should be exposed to different cultures, values and social environments. Besides, we should realise that there are many natural disasters in the world. In addition, we should reflect on the surroundings and take action to promote social justice. **B Promoting consciousness and quality of global citizenship** 6\. International non-governmental organisations are neither governments nor economic bodies. As a result, their actions have no political considerations and economic interests. These organisations mainly take moral concepts and values as their core. The voluntary spirit of citizens is their driving force. **C Efforts and contributions made by global citizens and their importance to the world** 1\. When the international non-governmental organizations provide humanitarian relief works, they need to hold their principle of independence, so their fundings are all from donations. **[Part 2: Proofreading (4 marks)]** Underline and correct the errors in the following sentences. 1\.
