Marvelous Faith Academy of Bacoor 125 FTM Compound, Mambog IV, Bacoor City, Cavite NATURAL RESOURCES Natural Resources Natural resources are materials found in,, on, and around the Earth that are used to meet peoples needs and to support life. Types of Natural Resources 1. Renewable Resources 2. Nonrenewable Resources 1. Renewable Resources These are resources that can be replenished by nature over a short period of time. 1. Renewable Resources Examples are Soil, Trees, Rock, Air, Water and Wildlife 1. Renewable Resources Note: Resources remain renewable as long as the rate of utilization does not exceed the rate of replenishment. Non-Renewable Resources Non-renewable resources are resources that do not naturally replenish and their supply is limited like oil and coal 2. Nonrenewable Resources Examples: 1. Coal 2. Mineral 3. Oil/Petroleum 4. Natural gas 2. Nonrenewable Resources 1.. Coal- are dead materials that from carbon-rich deposit. Coalification- happens when dead trees, ferns, and other plants have been deposited in swamps. 2.. Mineral- is a naturally occuring, inorganic, homogenous solid with a definite chemical composition and an ordered crystalline structure. 3 Oil/Petroleum- also know as oil black, thick, and mushy liquid is located between rock layers. refinery transform it into gasoline, jet fuel diesel fuel and other types of fractions How are petroleum refined? 4. Natural gas- is made of methane and is formed deep within the Earth. odorless and colorless chemicals are added to it making it smell stinky. cleanes among the nonrenewable resources because it releases fewer harmful by products. Environmental Effects Unsustainable use of natural resources depletes material and can cause problems like pollution and destruction of ecosystems. Conserving Natural Resources Renewable or Nonrenewable, resources should be consumed wisely. Preservation and conservation are essential so that the future generation will not be deprived of the things we are currently enjoying.
