Once Device type has been verified follow the setup guide provided within the box or located on Sony’s website: PSVR device setup step by step. Remember to plug in the Ethernet Cable. PS4 Check the PS4 How to Guide, if needed, to: • Log-in • Find the Debug menu • Understand how to use PS4 Neighborhood • And more… PS4 Neighborhood Neighborhood for PSVR is where the majority of tools are located to install and pull logs. From this application the user is able to install builds, pull videos, and locate logs. Click icon to add picture Installing Application If a build is not installed on the PS4 already you will be required to ask the lead to install the build. To do this they will require the IP Address from the PlayStation. Installing Application Downloading the build To download the build, make sure that your PS console is connected via Neighbourhood. Then right click on the connected console and select "Packages and Entitlements" - "Install Package". Go to "This PC" and select the "Builds (G:)" drive and locate the newest build in your current projects folder. Ask your lead for specific location of the build if you are unsure. Once the build has been located, select it and it will begin downloading on to your console. Different types of builds Some projects will have two different types of builds available • One will be the SIEE build (Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe) • The second will be the SIEA Build (Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe) These two builds will have separate test rails. Most projects will have multiplayer between these builds allowing multiplayer testing across both builds. Click icon to add picture Uninstalling builds To uninstall builds there are two primary methods: Uninstalling the build individually OR Uninstalling the application and reinstalling. Uninstalling the build individually • To uninstall the Application the user must: • Locate the application within the menu • Press the options button • Scroll down to the “Delete” options Uninstalling the application and reinstalling • To uninstall the build/patch/Removing Save Data follows a similar set of steps • Locate the application within the main menu • Press the options button • Scroll down to the “★Delete” • Select the required options to be deleted • Press “OK” • Install the required build/patch through Neighborhood for PS4 on the users' PC Recording footage Footage can be recorded by double pressing the "Select" button on the left side of the PS Move controllers. To stop recording double press the "Select" button again. To take a screenshot hold down the "Select" button for a second. The captured media will be saved to the "Capture Gallery" app on the PS4 Home menu. Check the PS4 How to guide for more info on how to capture/transfer media and how to use PS4 Neighbourhood. PSVR stability cases These are the PlayStation 4 VR specific cases. Some will require the removal of the headset to test. Some Tests require the user to convert the output of the PSVR from a standard screen onto Bypass Mode. Bypass mode allows the monitor to display each eye induvial to show a more accurate version of what the user is seeing. These tests will be marked as critical or highs as they can cause major discomfort for the user. Stuttering/Unsmooth Graphics • Stuttering or unsmooth graphics may be observed when you rotate your head (vertically or horizontally). PSVR stability cases 2 Reprojection Edge • You may sense some discomfort around the peripheral areas of your view when you rotate your head sideways; more specifically, you may see a white or black arc or a line that looks like graphical noise around the peripheral areas. This is called a "reprojection edge issue". 1.Set the Bypass mode from Debug Settings ("★Debug Settings" > "PlayStation VR" > "Social Screen Output Setting for Debug" to "Bypass"). 2.Turn the VR headset sideways by hand. Over Pixel Culling • This is another type of reprojection edge issue. This issue is often observed when moving your head up and down. When this occurs, you will notice a black arc at the vertical edges of your view. 1.Set the Bypass mode from Debug Settings ("★Debug Settings" > "PlayStation VR" > "Social Screen Output Setting for Debug" to "Bypass"). 2.Move the VR headset up and down by hand. PSVR stability cases 3 Hall of Mirrors Effect • This issue is most often observed at the loading screen, when you rotate your head sideways, and some corrupted graphics appear. UI Double Framing • When rotating your head sideways, a double framing issue may occur for UIs (appearing double) in the head coordinate system. Forced Camera Rotation/Translation • Forced rotational movement of the game camera is PROHIBITED to prevent discomfort. Forced translation movement of the game camera is NOT RECOMMENDED. Observe any forced camera rotations/translation. PSVR stability cases 4 Incorrect eyePose • When the eyePose matrix is used incorrectly, the VR world behaves inappropriately. When a user rotates their head sideways and notice a nearby object (a table, for example) “rolls”, there is a possibility that devicePose is used instead of eyePose for the rendering reference point. Depth Conflict • UI display and object display may cause a depth conflict. Observe any UI conflict with with a nearby object OPTIONS Long Press • When the OPTIONS button is long-pressed, please make sure that only the position is reset. PSVR stability cases 5 Position Tracking • Always have position tracking for the VR headset enabled. Horizon Should Always Be Horizontal • The horizon in VR space must always match the horizon in the real world. Initial Position of VR Objects • Set the initial position of the game camera to where it is easy for the user to perform gameplay PSVR stability cases 6 HeadPose • headPose should be set at the centre of the VR world space. 1.Launch the application. 2.Look 90 degrees to the left and reset the position. 3.Look 180 degrees to the right and reset the position. 4.Observe that the HeadPose is in the centre of the VR world space. Eye to Eye Distance • Eye-to-eye distance must be reflected for each user. You can confirm whether stereo images change according to the eye-to-eye distance by changing the eye-to-eye distance value in "Debug Settings" - "PlayStation VR" - "Change Eye-to-Eye Distance".
