Prosthetics The art and science of supplying , fitting and servicing artificial replacement of missing parts of the human body. 2. Prosthesis The artificial replacement of an absent part of the human body. e.g. eye prosthesis , Leg prosthesis. 3. Prosthodontics or Prosthetic Dentistry specialized branch of dentistry dedicated to making dental prosthetics (artificial teeth) for damaged or missing teeth. The word “prosthodontics” comes from the words “prostho,” meaning replacement, “dontist,” meaning teeth. Removable or Fixed 4. Dentulous Having natural teeth present in the mouth 5. Completely Edentulous all teeth are missing 6. Partially Edentulous the loss of one or more, but not all, of the natural teeth in a dental arch Complete Denture Definitions : “A prosthesis that replaces the lost natural dentition and associated structures of the mandible and / or the maxilla “.
