COMPUTER VIRUS  PRESENTED BY : EMAN SHARJEEL SHAH  PRESENTED TO MAM AYESHA  SUBJECT COMPUTER SCIENCE TABLE OF CONTENT : 1. Introduction of computer virus. 2. Types of computer virus. 3. How viruses spread. 4. Symptoms of a virus infection. 5. Prevention from computer virus. INTRODUCTION :  A virus is a program that may disturb the normal working of a computer without the knowledge and permission of the user.  Virus attaches itself to the files in flash drives, hard disks and email attachments.  A file containing a virus is called infected files HOW VIRUS SPREAD ?  Email Attachments: Opening infected files.  Infected Software Download: Downloading malicious software.  Infected Websites: Visiting compromised websites.  USB Drives: Transferring virus through removable devices. SYMPTOMS OF A VIRUS INFECTION : Slow System Performance Data Loss and Corruption Displaying Adds System Lockout PREVENTION FROM COMPUTER VIRUS : Install Antivirus Software Regularly Update Operating System and software Avoid Suspicious Emails and Attachments Use Strong Passwords Back up Important Data TYPES : 1. ADWARE 2. WORMS 3. SPYWARE 1. ADWARE : Adware, short for "advertising-supported software," is a type of software that automatically displays or downloads advertisements to a computer or mobile device. While not classified as a virus in the traditional sense, adware can be considered a form of malware, as it often operates without the user's consent and can affect the performance of the device. 2. WORMS : A worm is a type of malicious software (malware) that replicates itself in order to spread to other computers. Unlike a virus, which attaches itself to a host file or program and requires user action to spread (like opening an infected file), a worm is standalone and can self-replicate without any human intervention. 3. SPYWARE : Spyware is a type of malicious software (malware) designed to gather information about a person or organization without their knowledge. It operates secretly in the background and can collect various types of data, including browsing habits, personal information, passwords, and financial details.
