Isabella Mendenhall Isabella Mendenhall Mrs. Felden English 9/17/2024 Pre-Aice Autobiography Paper This paper is about someone named Isabella Mendenhall, she always goes by Izzy with family and friends. Izzy went through many pivotal moments, key influences, and had personal goals and ambitions throughout her life story. All of these things shape who she is now. She was born in Sarasota Florida and was born on November 25th, 2009. A similar theme that occurs throughout Izzy’s life is learning from her mistakes and moving forward. Some key life moments Izzy has been through were her little sister’s birth, covid 19, starting high school and starting cross country. There are so many events in her life that make her who she is now! To start with, when Izzy was younger a key life moment was when her sister was born. Izzy’s little sister and her have come to be very close and Izzy doesn’t know what she would do without her. Her little sister’s name is Olivia. This event affected Izzy morally because having her was like having extra support for Izzy, she never felt lonely or bored after Olivia was born. This also affected Izzy because she would fight with her sister, but in the end, it came down to the fact that they would always be sisters and must be there for each other in times of need. It shaped her identity or outlook because having a little sister could be a big responsibility. Izzy has to make sure Isabella Mendenhall to look out for her little sister. Some personal goals Izzy has for her relationship with her sister are to be able to help Olivia get through middle school and grow closer to her no matter how much older she gets. The book, “Little House on the Prairie” is a good example because in the story Carrie and her sister must help each other out to survive with their family. Second up, Covid 19, a virus formed in 2019 to 2020. This was a virus that caused a national pandemic which had an impact on Izzy that taught her many lessons. This event impacted her emotionally in a way, because when she found out about this virus, Izzy was only in 4 th grade and thought it would be great because she could get out of school. However, being stuck at home taught her a lesson emotionally because it was very boring, and she had to learn how to stay active and entertain herself. A quote by Matt Hogan, states “There’s no time to be bored in a world as beautiful as this”. This is inspiring because there is so much in the world to learn and see, so why stay at home and not take advantage of the things you could be doing? This shaped her identity or outlook because it was challenging to do well in school that year. They used Zoom meetings and she did not pay attention or learn anything while listening to the lessons online. Covid impacted Izzy’s outlooks in a positive way by learning how to overcome challenges in our society with strength and determination. Izzy’s last pivotal life event was starting high school and cross country. This was a big transition in Izzy’s life. Highschool impacted Izzy emotionally because of the amount of work, and this would stress her out sometimes. Although Izzy struggles at times, she has fun with new friends in high school which has a good emotional impact on Izzy. She is learning how worrying about Isabella Mendenhall things won’t help make them better and just focusing on the positives every day makes it easier. This is having an intellectual effect on her. Cross country has become a huge part of Izzy’s life. This has affected her morally because it has changed her life completely. Izzy now works together with her friends on a team and has so much fun each day after school. Sometimes it is hard on her to keep up while running, and to focus on winning. She has learned so much about teamwork and how to keep pushing herself to improve! This shapes Izzy’s identity or outlooks because she is busy after school, when her friends ask if she would like to hang out after school, she knows that she needs to go to practice so she can do well in races and keep improving. This has become a responsibility for her. Future goals for this sport would be getting onto a good team in college and she believes she can keep improving in high school through the next couple of years. A quote her sister found for her was, “if you can’t fly, then run, if you can’t run, then walk, if you can’t walk, then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving foward.” She put this quote on a board during the first elite race Izzy ever had and held it up to cheer her on. After doing some research, Izzy found this quote is by Martin Luther King Jr. This was so inspiring, and it really helped her keep going, and it got Izzy through the race that day. All these things are things that built Izzy up to who she is now. For Izzy’s projection of an idea for the future she would want to keep moving forward and learn by having new experiences. Isabella Mendenhall This will help her mature and become an amazing person. She would like to do well in school and live a great life. A quote Izzy has looked up to in the past was “Life isn’t about finding yourself. It is about creating yourself.” This quote is by George Bernard Shaw. To summarize, Izzy has had many life experiences that helped her learn and move forward stronger and more prepared. This will help Izzy find what she loves and learn from her mistakes.
