## POINTERS TO REVIEW - **Experimental Study** is a quantitative mode of research that involves the investigation of **dependent** and **independent variables** through control and manipulation. It is most suitable for studying the effect of a new teaching method on students' test scores. It is where an investigator manipulates one or more factors (**independent variables**) to observe the effect on some behavior or mental process (the **dependent variable**). - **Multi-stage sampling** is a type of sampling that needs to select the sample size more than once. - **Technique adapted** is the primary factor in determining whether research is true experimental or quasi-experimental. - After selecting the participants or subjects in experimental research, the next thing to do is to determine the variables. - **Static-group pre-test-post-test** is an example of a quasi-experimental design. - **Correlational Research** is the most used non-experimental research in the field of humanities and social sciences. - A **research instrument** is a tool used for measuring data. - In obtaining a research instrument, if the instrument has been published, contact the publisher, if the instrument is unpublished, contact the author directly and read the permission terms to determine if it is available for reuse. - **Published Instrument** means commercially published, and is typically available for sale. - A **database** is an organized collection of structured information, or data, typically stored electronically in a computer system. It's used to access research instruments. The first step in searching for a research instrument is to identify the database to locate the instrument. - Reviewing the instrument with **subject-matter experts** ensures the validity of a research instrument. - **Operationally define variable** - identifying variable- identify numeric scores is the correct flow of acquiring research instruments. - Computing **test-retest correlations** can be used to check the reliability of a research instrument. - **Observation** is a primary data collection method that involves tracking behavior over some time. - **In-person data collection** is the most expensive way to collect data per respondent. - An example of **Ordinal scale** is an order in which runners cross the finish line. - **Assessing the missing data** is the process done to check missing data in the database and apply measures on what to do with the missing data. - **Eliminating participants with missing scores** should be done to treat missing data though this will reduce the number of overall participants for data analysis. - **Substitute an average number** to the question is a way of treating missing data with scores without altering the overall statistical findings according to George & Mallery, 2001. - **Scoring the data** is when the researcher assigns a numeric score (or 13 value) to each response category for each question on the instruments used to collect data. - **Clean the missing data** is a process that describes wherein after entering data into the computer grid, one needs to determine if there are errors or missing data. - **SPSS** is a powerful statistical software that analyzes data and solves complex research problems through a user-friendly interface. - **Inputting data** is the process of transferring data from the responses on instruments to a computer file for analysis. - **Statistics** is a branch of mathematics dealing with the collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of masses of numerical data. - **Chi-Square Test of Independence** is concerned with two or more samples with only one criterion variable. - **Phi Coefficient Correlation** is used when the variables X and Y are measured in ***nominal dichotomous***. - **Independent variable** refers to the input variable. - **Inferential will be used** to determine the extent of difference between the performances of senior high school students in Practical Research 2, when classified as gender. ## Descriptive is the Best Research Design - Descriptive is the best research design to be used in this study “Attitudes of Poultry Farmers towards Organic Feeds". - The **alpha level** used, **degrees of freedom**, **p-value** are included in reporting inferential statistics. - If a **p-value** is less than 0.05, then the results are statistically significant. - The use of the table is to depict trends and distributions of data. - Using the American Psychological Association (APA, 2010), the caption of the figure is placed at the bottom of the figure. The title of the table is placed at the top of the table. - A conclusion chapter contains a summary of the key findings, a discussion of possible implications for practice or future research, and a reflection on what these findings mean. - The purpose of the conclusion in a research report is to summarizes the key findings in relation to the research questions. - Findings should be the basis for recommendations. - The summary of the research paper focuses on providing a comprehensive summary of the findings and points out what was learned from the study. - Recommendations in a research paper give the researcher the chance to give suggestions to matters for the improvement of the research study. - Recommendations should be clear, stated that they should not be ambiguous, and must be specific. - **Results and Discussion** holds the findings of the study and the discussion of each finding.
