Common Vocabulary for PFP Staff and Council Members Level 1 Priority 1. Driver Statement a. A person's or a group's motive for responding to a specific situation. b. At PFP, our Driver Statement explains why we are motivated to do the things we do. 2. Sociocracy a. A peer governance system based on consent which utilizes semi-autonomous councils to decentralize authority and encourages faster decision-making capabilities. 3. Operational Structure a. This refers to how PFP runs overall including key employees and practices. 4. Markets and Services a. This refers to PFP’s industry type and the people we are looking to offer our services and products to. 5. Target market a. This refers to our ideal customer, community member, or client. 6. Products a. These are any services or physical objects that are offered. These include groups, trainings, workshops, projects, and consortium memberships. 7. Support Groups a. These are opportunities for community members to engage in emotional support for and from one another. 8. Projects a. These are ongoing community engagement activities hosted by PFP. 9. Workshops a. These refer to the community learning opportunities offered within PFP. 10.Trainings a. These are learning opportunities that PFP plans to offer to outside companies and other affiliations. 11.Accessibility a. This refers to the ease of engagement regardless of access or support needs. 12.Domain a. A distinct area of responsibility and authority within an organization. b. Aligning areas of interests. 13.Initiatives a. This refers to projects hosted outside of PFP that are aimed at solving a problem. Revised Oct 24, 2024 Level 2 Priority 14.Principles a. A basic idea or rule that guides behavior, or explains or controls how something happens or works. 15.Concepts a. Relates to the 5 concepts in S3: Driver and Requirement Domain Agreement Objection Governance and Operations 16.Semi-autonomous a. This refers to our council working independently and making decisions within their jurisdiction while also aligning with other councils and the mission of PFP. 17.Interdependence a. This refers to individuals having complementary needs and offerings who mutually exchange to support each other's welfare. 18.Consent a. This means a person voting does not have a reasonable objection to the proposed decision. 19.Consensus a. This means most people agree to do something. b. This process does not apply to a sociocratic model. 20.Concern a. An assumption that cannot (for now at least) be backed up by reasoning or enough evidence to qualify as an objection to those who are considering it. 21.Objection a. A reasonable objection would include how the decision would be harmful to the council, the organization, or their missions. 22.Voting a. This refers to members who provide their consent or objection to proposed decisions. b. These rights are reserved for council members and leadership. 23.Transparency a. This refers to our transparency clause. b. All of PFP’s community members are entitled to any and all information regarding the structure, records, and daily activities within the organization. Personal or interpersonal information will only be provided as needed. Any individual marketing or networking of PFP must be disclosed to those in leadership. Revised Oct 24, 2024 24.Councils a. Structure of staff groupings who work with a defined purpose and with authority in their domain as assigned by their position. 25.Council Leadership a. Two Executives that are assigned to any particular council based on their title and domain. b. These members are responsible for managing, organizing, and leading their council. 26.Council Members a. First, Secondary, and Tertiary assigned staff to any particular council. b. These members are responsible for regularly attending, engaging, and steering their council. c. Primary council members are the staff and teams which work directly in the domain of that council. d. Secondary and Tertiary members are from other primary councils. Their job is to facilitate the flow of information and collaboration between their primary councils and their secondary/tertiary councils. 27.Council Gallery a. 4th and 5th level assigned staff to any particular council. b. These members are responsible for attending as many of their council meetings as possible, observing council proceedings, and being available to offer information within their individual domains as requested. c. These members may also be called upon to stand in if a member of their primary council is unable to be present at this council as a secondary or tertiary member. 28.Community Members a. Anyone who engages in PFP activities. 29.Executive Council a. This refers to the executive leaders who serve as stewards of the entire organization. 30.Board of Directors a. A required element within the structure of a nonprofit. b. Typically controls all decision-making within an organization. c. PFP’s BOD works as an integrity and auditing council to make sure our work stays on mission. 31.Hierarchy a. This refers to the power structure and dynamics of an organization or company. This includes financial, social, basic needs, spirituality, mental and physical health. b. Companies/Businesses: This refers to the overall stability and function of businesses/companies. This includes financial status, interpersonal connections, marketing, market standing, personnel, and communal relations. 33.Marketing Key Messages a. This refers to how PFP will elevate our offerings through our outreach efforts with the intention of appealing to potential community members, customers, or clients. It is the complete blueprint to the organization which is reviewed annually and projects future revenues and activities. 35.Non Profit a. The purpose of a non-profit is to provide a service or charity to the community. b. A nonprofit cannot accrue capital and does not have shareholders. c. It is required to have a BOD for a non-profit and there is no sole owner of a non-profit, rather it belongs to the community. d. It is tax-exempt from sales taxes. e. Restrictions of activities and uses of funds. 36.For Profit a. The purpose of a for-profit is to earn money while providing a product or service. b. A for-profit can accrue capital and share dividends. c. There may be one or more owners or shareholders. d. Forprofits must pay sales taxes. e. There are no required forms of governance or positions. f. Unrestricted use of funds or activities. 37.Executive Summary a. The Executive Summary should be written last after the remainder of the plan has been finished. This is an overview of the business, including the problem the business aims to solve, why this business’ solution is different, the business’s ideal customer, and the expected results. The Executive Summary should provide a high-level and optimistic description of the company. This is meant to be specific, longer, and more promotional than the Company Summary. 38.Company Summary a. This refers to the overall short summary of the entirety of the PFP business plan. 39. Consortium of Coalitions a. The mission of the PerfectlyFlawed Consortium of Coalitions is to unite nonprofits and other organizations which provide services in alignment with PerfectlyFlawed's mission. Under our umbrella, PerfectlyFlawed seeks to foster collaboration within these coalitions making better resources more globally accessible. 40.Coalitions a. Refers to a gathering of organizations and initiatives united by a common mission towards making better resources more globally accessible and collaborating to improve their industry and practices. This is an assessment tool we will routinely use to better understand PFP’s security, longevity, and challenges. 42.Competition a. This refers to any business or organization that could directly impact PFP’s cash flow or engagement including direct and indirect. 43.Marketing Activities a. This refers to the actions PFP takes to express the marketing key messages. 44.Profit and Loss Model a. This refers to a specific spreadsheet within the PFP business plan which shows monthly income and expenses as expected for the future year to five years. 45.CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) a. Refers to the rate at which a particular industry, sector, or business will grow based on current records and data trends. No one will be expected to know this formula. 46.Dividends a. This is the leading sector in business growth which refers to things created by Artificial Intelligence (AI). 48.Soft Skills a. The second leading sector in business growth refers to human interaction and interpersonal skills. 49.Skills shortage a. This third leading sector in business growth refers to companies shifting their hiring process to be more focus on experience and education. 50.Sustainable Business a. The fourth leading sector in business growth refers to the response to consumer's demand for climate action. 51.The Data Economy a. The fifth leading sector in business growth refers to the collecting and selling of profiling data to sustain marketing strategies and reduce waste. 52.The Customer Experience Revolution a. The sixth leading sector in business growth refers to individualized and personalized marketing strategies. 53.Remote and distributed work a. The seventh leading sector in business growth refers to increasing access to full and part-time employment from home. 54.Diversity and Inclusivity a. The eighth leading sector in business growth refers to companies' response to consumers' demands for products, services, and employment that foster and honor diversity and inclusivity. 55.Resilience a.
