Pediatric Life Support Yasmeen Karam Hosny Ahmed Lecturer of Pediatrics Clinical Nutrition Department Cairo University Primary Assessment Identification of the seriously ill child needs to be at the point of first contact with healthcare services. ‘TRIAGE’ is the process of DETERMINING THE URGENCY in which patients need to be assessed and treated according to their illness severity rather than their order of attendance. This may begin with telephone or online consultation to a national center, or via primary care or ambulance service. Primary Assessment In an emergency department, it is based on a brief history and measurement of vital signs (temperature, respiratory and heart rate) and oxygen saturation Early recognition and treatment of sudden cardiac arrest improve survival for children and adults Basic life support (BLS) involves a systematic approach to initial patient assessment, activation of emergency medical services, and the initiation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including adequate ventilation, chest compressions and defibrillation BLS can be performed by trained lay persons or healthcare providers CPR links https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flJ9Psd1j _c&ab_channel=CPRKidsTV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhiuNea g1uc&t=0s&ab_channel=CPRKidsTV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUaxt8O lT3o&ab_channel=ActionFirstAid THANK YOU
