TEST: STREP + www.homeoint.org BELLADONNA Belladonna stands for violence of attack and suddenness of onset. "Belladonna always is associated with hot, red skin, flushed face, glaring eyes, throbbing carotids, excited mental state, hyperesthesia of all senses, delirium, restless sleep, convulsive movements, dryness of mouth and throat with aversion to water, neuralgic pains that come and go suddenly." BELLADONNA ( CONTINUED ) Heat (FEVER), redness, throbbing and burning. Great children's remedy. Throat red, worse on right side. Tonsils enlarged; throat feels constricted; difficult deglutition (swallowing) Throat pain that usually comes on quickly Painful swallowing Red and swollen tonsils, sometimes with white patches or streaks of pus Tiny red spots on the area at the back of the roof of the mouth (soft or hard palate) Swollen, tender lymph nodes in your neck Fever Headache Rash Nausea or vomiting, especially in younger children Body aches (Mayo Clinic website) BELLADONNA (Atropa b., Deadly nightshade) Solanaceae (nightshade) family Affinity: Brain, head. Cardiovascular system. Fevers. Sudden intense symptoms, acute, appear and disappear suddenly. Mental/emotional symptoms: Lively, vibrant personality, with sudden fits and tantrums: bites, strikes, kicks, pulls hair, hits head on the wall/floor Tries to run away, hide from hallucinations during fevers or nightmares (dogs, cats, animals, bugs, devils, fire, etc.) Wild expression and eyes, dilated pupils, shiny glassy eyes when sick na n do a ll e B GENERAL SYMPTOMS Pains: Throbbing, pulsating, hammering, bursting, stabbing, burning pains; visible pulsations. Heat, redness, inflammation, congestion (head, lungs). Dryness. No thirst, in fever, or constant desire to drink. Modalities: Worse: afternoon (3 pm on), night; motion, jar; light touch; draft, walking in wind; shiny bright objects, light. Noise. Right side. Better: leaning head against something; bending the part back or inward; while standing; in bed; in morning; with warmth. Belladonna Not thirsty Nightmare CVS Terrors Hallucinat. BAPTISIA TINCTORIA Very weak with a URTI and high fever, can progress very fast So weak they can't sit up in bed or they may even fall off the bed! May feel confused, intoxicated, have body delusions like their limbs are detached from the body and scattered all over the bed... May have canker sores (aphthae) and diarrhea (GI infections) Better: indoors, drinking liquids (but may gag on fluids) Worse: cold, open air, walking, eating solids (but easier to swallow) A L L I U M C E PA Differential with Euphrasia officinale, Ferrum phosphoricum ALLIUM CEPA (RED ONION) Has affinity with mucous membranes (nose, eyes, larynx, bowels) and nerves Keynote: the nasal discharge is acrid and burns the nostrils and upper lip area (redness), but the tears are bland (Euphrasia has the opposite: the tears irritate the skin, we can see the path where the tear rolled down the cheek, but the nose is fine) MIND: groggy, sleepy, lethargic – in morning, heat Indifferent, dull, lack of motivation Absent-minded, worse afternoon and coffee GENERALS: Left side, or left to right Neuralgic pains after surgery/amputation/injury Shooting pains, following a thin line MODALITIES: Worse: warm room, spring and fall, flowers, evening, cucumber Better: in fresh air (not too cold), onions (may crave) Sore throat: burning Or lump in the throat Larynx: tickling, pain from coughing Hoarseness Headache worse from closing the eyes Modalities symbols: < > means worse or aggravated with means better or ameliorated with THANK YOU!
