Oculus Link via Quest/Quest 2 Setup Guide • You'll need a USB C cable to connect your headset to the PC. See more info about Quest and Quest 2 here. • Common issue faced is that the "Enable Link" pop up may not appear in your Quest headset, this can be fixed by either using a different USB C cable, making sure that USB Connection Dialogue is enable in the developer settings in the headset and by restarting the Oculus app on your PC PCVR Platforms Here are the platforms we use wit PCVR: Steam Oculus Store Testing Requirements Steam Oculus Store Steam is the non-Oculus PC app that we use for PCVR, Steam VR is the application that we use alongside the Oculus PC app. More info on how to use Steam here. The Oculus Store is the platform we use to test PCVR devices on. The Oculus App is the PC app you use to access that platform. Requirements for Oculus Store testing: - Oculus PC App installed on your PC - PC with either recommended or minimum spec for application that is being tested - USB C Cable if using Oculus Link Requirements for Steam testing: - Steam Account - Oculus Account (To enable Oculus Link) - PC with either recommended or minimum specs for application that is being tested - USB C Cable if using Oculus Link - Steam VR installed Logging into Accounts Steam Oculus Store Select the Steam application icon on your PC and enter in the account details listed in your project's wiki. Install the Oculus app on to your PC via this link and choose the Rift/Rift-s link. Check this info if you see an error message. You may need to enter in a Steam Guard code to access your account, if this appears ask your lead for the code. You may need admin permissions from your Lead to install the application but once installed, select "Log in with email address" at the bottom and use the account details in your projects wiki. Possible issues when installing Oculus App Oculus App is the PC app you use to access the Oculus Store platform. The main issue that you may encounter when installing the Oculus app on your PC is that you may receive the (OVR88948175) error. The way to fix this issue is to follow this guide Oculus VR Downloads Error Fix You’ll need to ask a lead’s help in order to fix this issue. Release Channels The release channels are different channels that builds will be pushed to, sometimes a dev will request that we test a build on a specific channel which is why we have to swap over to them. The number of release channels varies by project. The channel can be swapped either before installing the build or after it has been installed where only an update will need to be downloaded for the application. When signed into an account, make sure that the application that your testing is in your library and that you are on the correct release channel. You will need to log in to the correct account for your platform before you can change the release channel. Changing Release Channels Steam • Locate the application in your Steam library after you have logged in to an appropriate account • Right click on the application name in the library and select Properties • Select "Betas" and then select the required channel from the drop-down menu (An access code may be required to enter before the channel can be selected, ask your lead for where and what the code is) Oculus Store • Search for the application in the store on the Oculus PC App • Select it and scroll down to where the Version is listed • Select the Version name and then select the required release channel Downloading Builds Builds will be available once you have downloaded the app from the store You need to search for the app in the store Updates will be available upon the developers pushing them Checking App Details Collecting the app details will be needed to make sure that the new build downloaded/updated is the correct version that the developers have sent us. It’s also collected to enter in the correct Affected Version for the Oculus Store version of any bugs posted. To find the app version number and code for the Oculus store version, follow this path: C:\Program Files\Oculus\Software\Manifests and select the JSON File for the application that is currently being tested. Scroll down to the bottom of the file where the version and code will be listed. This can be done after the build has finished downloading and is installed on to your PC. Recording Media Media can be recorded for both platforms via OBS Studio. Make sure that OBS is recording from Game Capture and that the window is set to the correct application that you are currently testing.z More info on How to use OBS h ere. Make sure that the microphone is muted on OBS!! Oculus Diagnostics Tools The Oculus Diagnostics Tools are used for the Oculus Store version and can be found on your PC through this path: C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\ oculus-diagnostics The main applications that we use from this folder are Oculus Debug Tool and Oculus Mirror. Oculus Debug Tool/Lost Frame Capture Oculus Debug Tool is used to alter the performance of an application. We mainly use the "(PC) Asynchronous Spacewarp" option to either disable it or to force an application to run at 45 FPS. The Lost Frame Capture application is used to collect the FPS data of the Oculus Store version. When the application is running, select Record and then after a required amount of time has passed e.g. 45 minutes select Stop, then select Summary and observe the number of Application Frames Dropped. Getting Logs • Logs for both Platforms can be found in the same location: C:\Users\USERSNAME\ AppData\LocalLow\ Hyperbolic Magnetism\ NAMEOFAPPLICATION The log will be called "Player". • If you have started a new play session without grabbing the log that you need then you can still access it by grabbing the "Player-prev" log file in the same directory • Make sure to open the file and check the top line so that you have the correct log for the version that you are testing. • If on Oculus Store it will mention Oculus in the first line, if on Steam it will mention Steam in the first line.
