Welcome to Dove House ! 🕊️ Please read the following bolded items: If you have any questions about anything contained herein, please do not hesitate to contact me or Kathleen. 😊 ** For any immediate behavioral concerns with the need for extra support, please call The Jude House PCC desk, Extension 100, and ask for the Shift Supervisor and/or Therapist of the Day. Jude House (301) 932-0700 Kathleen (301) 356-3272 Dia (818) 296-8143 A copy of the On-Call Schedule is on the inside of the Staff Closet door. Should you have any major safety concerns, please contact the main building, and ask for Security. Keys, Phone, Tablet: Keys, phone, and tablet should be on your person at all times. The only exception being if the phone or tablet is on the charging port in the living room and you are within arm’s reach. These items get passed on to the next PCC at every shift. (This includes van keys, staff keys, house phone and rounding tablet.) Dove House Tablet: The tablet works the same as the one at Jude House main building. Please do not save your password. Staff Dress Code: Staff is required to wear comfortable but work-appropriate clothing. Jeans or slacks cannot have holes or inappropriate graphics. If staff is wearing leggings, the shirt must be long enough to cover the buttocks. No shorts. Shirts cannot have drug/alcohol references, they cannot be crop tops or sleeveless. No open-toed shoes. No Crocs. Nursing shoes, sneaks, or boots are allowed. ️ Visitors: 🚫 No one but the residents and employees of The Jude House and/or The Dove House or an approved instructor/presenter with prior permission are allowed on the property. No friends, family, or deliveries are allowed. 🚫Do not give out the address for any reason. 🚫Do not give out the phone number for any reason. THIS IS A SAFE HOUSE. *** Staff can be picked up and dropped off if need be, but please do not have visitors on the property or personal phone calls on the Dove House phone. *** If an unauthorized/suspicious person does come onto the property, introduce yourself and ask them to leave. If they do not leave, they are trespassing. Police need to be called and an IR submitted. ☕️ Coffee The ladies receive three pots of coffee per day: 6:45 a.m. 8:00 a.m. 11:30 a.m. (No later than 6:45pm if they choose to have this pot later) Staff must make the coffee. The ladies pour their own coffee. Please only use one bag of coffee per pot for the patients (Maxwell House). Water levels are: 12 cup line for 5 ladies 10.5 cup line for 4 ladies Staff: Do not drink the women’s coffee. Please provide your own coffee. 🙏🏼 The coffee creamer, Splenda, and sugar for the patients will get refilled on Mondays and Thursdays to help the girls be mindful of how much they are using. 💨 Fresh air Breaks There are no scheduled fresh breaks. However, fresh air breaks are to be taken between the hours of 6:45 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. on weekdays (Sun-Thursday) and 6:45 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. on weekends (Friday and Sat) with the exception of group times. Groups include GRT. ***Patients can smoke up until 5 minutes before group. They should be getting something to drink, using the restroom, and preparing for group for the remainder 5 minutes. (We are going by the microwave clock.) 🍿 Snacks *** Patients are to eat the snack of their choice from 8:00 - 8:15 p.m. If they need to eat between 8:15 - lights out, it is to be a grab-and-go item eaten at the kitchen table. (They cannot use plates or bowls.) 🚫No food in bedrooms. 🚫No food in living room or Group Room (with the exception of hard candy or popcorn during a movie). 🚫NO OUTSIDE FOOD (fast food, candy, snacks, soda, etc.) from staff to the patients unless specifically approved by Dove House Administrator. 🧹 Chores: Patients are to complete chores from 8:15 p.m. until completed. *** Please be consistent with the scheduled time frame. *** Time may vary if the ladies have an outside event. 🗑️ Trash: Please make sure you supervise the patients when they take the trash out, preferably before dark. 🔦 Searches: When they return from an appointment or event outside the building, a search must be done. If any searches need to be conducted in the duration of your shift, the wand is in the Staff Closet. Full searches: To be completed upon return from pass, outside events, and out-of-sight while at appointments. They are to be completed by female staff only. Patients need to wait in the hallway in front of the staff restroom until searched. They cannot go to another room before being searched. 🚫 No sitting on couches before being searched. 🚫 No Group Room before being searched. Bags and clothing must be searched. Full clothing strip down, cough, and squat. If the ladies are approved for drop offs upon return, they do not receive the items until Kathleen searches the items on Monday. Please lock the items in the Staff Closet. 🧫 Urinalysis (UA) Urinalysis tests are to be conducted by female staff only. If any urinalysis needs to be done during your shift, there are cups in the Staff Bathroom or in the Staff Closet. The baggies and seal stickers are in the drawer in the Staff Bathroom. Bring a pen. There are empty UA forms on the clipboard on the wall in the Staff Bathroom. ☎️ Phone calls: Patients are never to answer the phone by themselves. The only phone calls the patients are allowed to receive are probation officers, lawyers, DHS, DSS. No friends or family outside of their allotted phone times on Tuesdays and Saturdays (Level II and III only). If you need further confirmation, please speak with Kathleen. 🚫 Do not confirm or deny any names to persons on the phone. 🚫 Do not give patients messages; they do not need to know who’s calling. In the event that you are conducting the patients’ 10-minute call, please write down the time they start talking and the time they end. Ten minutes only. Please give the patients a two-minute warning to end the call. Please make sure they see, hear, and understand when you do so. Patients must be in a communal area within ear shot and eyesight of staff. They are not to give out the house phone number and/or address for any reason. Language and volume level need to be appropriate out of respect for other residents and staff. 🔪 Sharps: There is a clear plastic kitchen sharps container in the snack closet near the kitchen. The patients are allowed to check out knives and such. They need to hand the sharps back to staff to be hand washed and put back in sharps container immediately after use. 🚫 Do not put sharps in the dishwasher. 💻 Computer Time: There are authorized staff who are appointed to supervise this time. Please ask before letting the ladies use the laptops. Thank you. Bedrooms: 🚫 Patients are not allowed in each other’s rooms under any circumstances! Room assignments: Room 1 - Single Room 2 - Double, front bedroom Room 3 - Double, back bedroom. This is the primary bedroom, and has an en suite. Groups and Mealtimes: Please make sure to announce groups and mealtimes so that all residents are included. All patients are required to attend group, unless excused by Medical or the Clinician.
