00:15 Want to check your grades, click right here, you’ll get a detailed listing. If you see something that has a little hyphen right there, that means that you have not attempted it yet, and it has not been scored. Now, this will stay empty. For until the end of the semester, when we will add that in. There will be a I will add in a calculator for you to be able to take your score from lab and your score from lecture and calculate what’s your current overall graders. Student Resources is something that is in every course in Canvas. And if you click it, it opens a page on the Cal State Fullerton website specific to support resources for you. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, don’t hesitate to ask us and we’d be happy to point you to where you can find that information. The last thing you’ll see is the textbook log in. And this just points to the homepage of the publisher. So you log in with your Fullerton email the password that you set, when you first purchase this, you’ll have to set up an account. And you’ll need your access code which you can get if you purchase this directly through great river learning. Or you purchase this through the bookstore and they give you an access code. Here’s the link to purchase. So I don’t confuse anyone. Now this looks different. Because this is actually what I see. This is called the instructor view. So there’s a lot more here. But I don’t want to be able to not access things in student view. So I’m going to go back to this. I want to show you how to reach out to your classmates or to your professors. If you’re in Canvas, don’t take the time to go open up an email in Outlook or whatever application you’re using your college email, and use your college email. This is the best way to reach us. If you reach out to us on like your Yahoo account or your Gmail account or something like that. And it’s anything in reference to a grade it can be an assignment question, a quiz question anything like that, we will not respond to that because we’re by law and not to it’s an it’s a privacy issue, we’re not allowed to, to reply to a non university email. Because we don’t know if it’s you or not. All right. If you click inbox from the global menu, this is what you’ll see. So it’s going to load any emails that I have. These are some from last semester. And this is how many threads are in this emails. Now if you want to write an email, you’re going to ERD says compose a new message, you’re going to click the pencil icon here, and then you’ll get the Compose Message box, you’re going to want to first select the course that you’re going to use. So I’m going to select spring 2024 10101. I can now select the name now if I want to send an email to everyone, I can send it to everyone. Or I can send it to just the teachers. I can send it to specific sections, I can click that and it will send it to everyone in that section but no one else will get it. But if you want to send us an email, then you’re just going to look for teachers and you’re going to look for us then put a descriptive subject line what you’re talking about. Question about quiz number two. And then write your email here. Please be professional. Hello, Professor. comma and then write your email here. Use proper paragraphing proper grammar everything else 04:51 and then ended with some type of closure called just gonna say take care and I’m going to type my name here. Once you’ve sent an email and your to thread, now you know who each other are, you don’t need to always put the hello in the in the goodbye, and then hit send, then that will go to that person’s not only to the to hear in Canvas in the sent box, it’ll count go into your email box that you sent this. So the sender gets a copy and the person being sent to you gets a copy. If you want to reply to an email, you click here, if it’s to a group, and you want to reply to everyone, which will happen often, especially if it’s like a group topic, or it’s, you know, three or four people reply all this would mean I’m done with this, I want to archive this, you can delete something, and then you have other options too. But more likely than not, you’re just going to use the reply or maybe the reply all. I’d like to quickly go over some of these options here to show you and then I want to talk about the quiz itself, because it will be quizzes for the rest of the semester. If you click what is a hybrid class, where you’ll see on this page, our we have a video here that explains I’ve put together a lecture that explains it a little better. And we also have a text description. And you also have a video from YouTube that someone else made that talks about the flipped class. This explains how the course is broken up what we expect the technical requirements, how to succeed in this type of class, and frequently asked questions. Click the Next. And you’ll see there’s tabs here. So you want to click each of these tabs and you want to read through these. When you get done with all the tabs, you click Next. 07:09 Might success study skills, university student policies, and again those resources for students success. Next, you’ll have a quiz. Now this is not the format that you’ll see. But I’d like to show you how we set it up. Here’s the number of points. It’s assigned to everyone when it’s due when it opens, and when it’s locked, it closes. So when you’re all done with all your assigned learning materials, I want to say reading but sometimes you will have a video or other type of material. So once you’re all done looking through all the orientation materials, you’re going to want to take the quiz. I’m going to go over the orientation quiz briefly, but note that the format and everything else will be the same for the rest of the quizzes. So just to go over quizzes in general quizzes will be 15 questions worth two points each. So it’s 30 points. The format will be multiple choice type questions, but they might be matching they might be true false fill in the blank. However, there won’t be any short answers or any essays. You’ll have 30 minutes in a single attempt to complete these quizzes. To access the quiz, click here from the module or it will be if you click Next after you go through the material. So again, I’m in the student view. Most quizzes will have a 30 minute window for you to finish the quiz. For the orientation quiz, you’ll have two attempts in Canvas will record the higher score. There’s no time limit. So I’m going to show you an example. It says you have two attempts this will be your first attempt. Click Begin. And the first question we’ll show for you. Students must be self starters and comfortable with and you’ll type in your answer here. And then you’ll click Next. Once finished, you will get a grade but you will not be able to see your specific answers to the questions you receive. But you will see which questions you answered correctly or incorrectly. If you cannot find the correct answer in your learning materials, email your instructor and supply screenshot of this specific question. Last to check your overall grade. There’ll be a button on the homepage that you can use to calculate your Overall Grade, you’ll type in this information lab lecture lab is 70% of the way and the lectures 30% of the way. So for example, if in lab, you have a 92%. And in lecture, perhaps you didn’t read as well as you should have and you have a 78%. You go down here and you hit Calculate, and it will tell you, you have an eight actually run a rounded up so you have an 88% Then you can go to the syllabus, you can look at the grade schedule, and you can figure out what your letter grade is or your GPA grade. That’s it. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to either one of us, if not best of luck this semester, and I look forward to hopefully getting to meet you at some point Transcribed by https://otter.ai
