# Socialisation Socialisation is a lifelong process of learning and internalizing values, norms, and beliefs of a society. It's most prominent during childhood but continues throughout life. There are different types of socialisation: * **Resocialization:** The process of re-integrating into society after a period of being separated or excluded (e.g., someone returning from prison). * **Do-socialization:** Adapting to significant changes in social environment (e.g., changes in profession, family, relocation). * **Socialisation - 4 stages:** 1. **Inferiority:** Individuals are not fully self-sufficient and require supervision. 2. **Utility:** Individuals can contribute to society but need focused support. 3. **Adaptability:** Individuals can effectively adapt but still need care. 4. **Integration:** Complete integration and involvement in societal activities. Socialization occurs through different types of interactions: * **Formal interactions:** Interactions with institutions (e.g., a visit to the doctor, interactions with school teachers). * **Informal interactions:** Interactions with family and personal friends. Socialisation depends on various factors like individual needs, disabilities, and relationships.
