How are the ideas presented in the two Non-Linear Texts These are the ways of presenting information simply and attractively to catch the readers’ interest. These illustrations help explain concepts easily in an easier, faster, and a more understandable way without changing the whole thought or idea of the text. Commonly used non-linear texts are the following: Graphs Tables Concept Maps Charts Infographics Graphs These are diagrams that show the relationship of information presented. The following are types of a graph: a. Line graph - It is a kind of graph that presents information using data dots connected by a line segment. b. Bar graph - It is a kind of graph that characterizes categorical data with rectangular bars. Table It is an organized arrangement of data usually in rows and columns. Concept map It displays the organization and relationship of concepts and ideas. Chart It is an illustration that presents information in tabular or circular form. Two kinds of charts: a. Pie chart - It is circular in form and presents how a whole is sliced into parts. b. Flow chart - It is an illustration that shows step-by-step process. Infographic It is a combination of visual images and text presentation of a specific text. Facts vs. Opinions Facts are statements that can be verified as true or false through observation, evidence, or reliable sources. They are objective and not influenced by personal feelings or opinions. Examples of Facts: The Earth orbits the Sun. There are 24 hours in a day. The Eiffel Tower is located in Paris, France. Opinions are personal beliefs, judgments, or perspectives that are subjective and cannot be proven true or false. They are influenced by individual preferences, experiences, or emotions. Examples of Opinions: Pizza is the best food in the world. Reading is more enjoyable than watching movies. The Eiffel Tower is the most beautiful landmark. Fact-based Opinions Opinions that are derived or supported by factual information. While they are subjective interpretations, they rely on evidence or data to make a claim.
