- My current position is as a Service Desk Analyst for Vertas Group - I work on the service desk providing 1^st^/2^nd^ line support for a group of over 4000 employees, but I am also heavily involved with technical projects ranging from infrastructure to security pieces - An example of one these projects would be a 365-security posture assessment and improvement plan where I have implemented technical controls such as forcing MFA, blocking legacy authentication methods as well as various phishing controls - I'm involved with security every day in my role, be it educating users on cyber awareness or responding to security alerts through tools like Sophos or Egress - I've learned a lot here about how IT operates in a large organisation and naturally found myself working closest with the security team out of a genuine interest for the field - Before this role, I was as an IT Analyst for Tier1 Asset Management for a little over 2 years - In addition to IT support, here I took part in infrastructure work, where I built servers hosted both on prem in Hyper-V and in Azure - I also installed and maintained networking equipment such as Cisco Meraki access points, switches and firewalls, creating guest networks, VLANs, and configuring access control lists while doing so. - Also as part of infrastructure work here I installed Darktrace security appliances at multiple sites to further improve security, working with a third party to remediate any alerts - I managed the backups of our servers, using Veeam, as well as the patching of our endpoints and servers using Endpoint Central - I also introduced Windows Defender for Endpoint into the estate and responded to any security alerts generated through this - I was closely involved in technical compliance for both ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus, developing documentation as well as taking part in successful audits - Before that, I was a project services engineer for EOL IT Services - This role was travelling to client sites across the UK and carrying out a variety of technical managed services - In that role I also field tech support - The company was an ITAD, IT asset disposal, which taught me many things about responsibly decommissioning IT equipment - I've been very interested in Cyber Security for a while now, getting involved with it outside of work through learning sites like TryHackMe as well as podcasts such as Security Now - The last couple years I have done my CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+ with the most recent of those being my Security+ which I sat in July last year and really enjoyed - I still continue to learn and develop out of hours, currently studying for my Cisco CCNA qualification, and I'm looking for an opportunity to get even more involved with cyber security in my day to day job
