Grant opportunities from the Government of Canada (CAC Grants for Musicians) What: The Canadian Council for the Arts (CAC) supports artistic excellence by providing grants, services, prizes, and payments to professional Canadian artists, groups, and arts organizations. Who: Grants are available to Canadian citizens or permanent residents with specialized training who are recognized as professionals by other artists in the field of practice. Where: The Canada Council for the Arts is based in Ottawa and is the main federal agency supporting the arts in Canada. Why: "To foster and promote the study, enjoyment, and creation of works in the arts." - Mandate set by Parliament Origins: CAC was established on March 28, 1957, by an Act of Parliament to support and promote the arts in Canada. Its creation was inspired by the 1951 report of The Massey Report which painted a grim picture of Canada’s cultural landscape. How Applications Are Assessed: Applications are internally assessed generally on the following weighted criteria: Impact: How the project helps your artistic growth. Relevance: How timely and suitable the project is, and the quality of your partners or hosts. Feasibility: Your ability to complete the project successfully. Residencies Purpose: Supports creative research, art creation, and networking opportunities through international residencies.
