London Del Mar Direct Examination We call london del mar to the stand May I inquire? Q. Good Morning/afternoon/evening London Del Mar, would you please introduce yourself to the jury? R. Yes, hello. My name is London Del Mar, and I own an event-planning business called London’s Luxury Lounges. I am also a licensed real estate agent. I graduated from Palm Coast University in 2019 with a degree in business administration. My business has become one of the premier event-planning services in the country. Q. Thank you, how long have you known Cohen Grey? R. Four years. She’s been a great friend and client since then. Q. Can you tell us about Cohen's role in your business? R. Cohen has always been a loyal client, frequently hosting events at my venues and recommending my services to others. Cohen has always been dependable and ensures all payments are made in full, which has helped grow my business. I consider her a reliable client and I honestly don't know where my business would be without her. Q. Are you the person she contacted to book the Artisan Plaza Venue? R. Yes, Cohen let me know she would use it to store some paintings and informed me of everything that would be needed to keep the painting safe. Q. And what did these measures include? R. Two dehumidifiers and an indoor AC unit in the venue's backroom. Q. Did you assist her in coordinating this event? R. yes. Q. Let's move forward in time a bit. What happened after you and Cohen finalized the details of the event, on April 26? R. After we finalize everything, Cohen informed me that the painting would arrive on April 26. I was hosting another event, so I was away from the venue. I gave Cohen's best friend, Vladimir, a spare key to the venue to oversee the arrival of the painting. Q. What can you tell us about Cohen's vision for the event on May 25? R. Cohen had told me it has always been a dream of hers to open her own art studio, and this event was a step forward to realizing that dream. She was very involved in the planning process, from selecting vendors to ensuring the paintings were well cared for. Cohen wanted everything to be perfect, and she paid attention to even the smallest of details including the temperature and humidity in the backroom to protect the artwork. Q. You mentioned that the event cost over $40,000. How did Cohen's involvement in the event go beyond being a customer? R. Yes, Cohen not only got involved financially but she was deeply engaged in the events planning. Q. Can you tell me more about that involvement? Q. you had stated that Leigh made a comment when you told her the event was cancelled. Could you remind us of what it was? R. She said, “At Least I have the two million and the insurance.” Q. Was this the reaction you expected? R. No, considering her first thought was about the money aspect and value of the painting rather than the painting itself or the event. I expected her to be more upset about the cancellation. Q. Based on your interactions with Leigh, would you say she was more concerned about the painting’s artistic value or its financial value? R: She seemed more concerned about the financial value. Q: Did Leigh mention any financial struggles with the museum or pressure to ensure its success to you? A: Yes, she mentioned the museum wasn’t doing as well as expected and needed to draw in more visitors. Q: When you saw the forged painting on display, what reason did Leigh give you for keeping it up? R: She said, “People aren’t going to pay to see a blank space on the wall.” Q. What did this tell you about Leigh Rose? R. She is not who i thought she was at all, but then again i don't know what i expected ourt of someone who was always talking about money. Q. Did Cohen tell you about the email that Leigh sent him on May 25th after she found out the event was cancelled? R. Yes, it seemed odd to me that when she encountered me she was collected and it honestly gave me the impression that she didnt care but she then sent that furious email to Cohen. Q. Did you ever see Cohen act in a way that suggested she would engage in dishonest behavior? R. Never. Cohen was always honest, reliable, and focused on her goals. She invested over $40,000 into this event, which shows how committed she was to making it succeed. Q. Given your interactions with Cohen, how would you characterize her behavior during the event planning? R. Cohen has always demonstrated honesty and dedication in her dealings with me. it's out of the ordinary for him to do something like this. Throughout the planning process, Cohen shows her commitment to the event and her dream. Nothing in her behavior suggested he would do anything dishonest. Based on my interactions, Cohen was focused entirely on her dream and took the right steps to make this event successful. Q. Did you ever feel Cohen pressured you to say anything in her favor today? R. Never, Cohen trusted me to share what I saw honestly and I am here to share the truth about what happened. Thank you
